It really is a lamentable fate that arusan doesn't more actual developed talents to leverage to wow people. His talk ability isn't great enough to rely on it, and his game ability isn't high enough that he can casually converse during a lot of games which is what would permit allowing them to give reliably good commentary content. He makes a lot of different pushes to try and grow his channel and the drive is there, but he lacks something to immediately impress or wow people, which means that these measures/attempts aren't as effective at grabbing any further viewers.
Finally, because it doesn't yield results he then moves on to the next plan or approach, which always results in him never developing that skill or content enough for it to maybe return divdends reliably, but that could also be him just not wanting to actually do that content and forcing himself to try and do it.
There's playing heavily into a personality as astel has been doing recently, but ultimately given that he already stopped caring so much about playing a 'character' more than a year ago I don't imagine he'd be keen to invest too deeply into it again. Assuming he can keep it up even in the first place, Astel's intense acting mode has always been something he can seemingly easily pull off.

But yeah, does suck for him, and it's all long term stuff that is hard to see improve at all in the so it might not ever really change.

This is what I’ve noticed as well. I don’t know if it’s the same with JP Fantoms but the few EN Fantoms I’ve seen are always willing to enable Uyu’s habits. For example, if he streams past JP midnight and/or unarchives his stream, they just go “Aw I missed it, should have stayed up late instead” instead of asking him to stream in more reasonable hours + leave the archive up

I think jp fans might be too scared to directly say anything in tags even on an alt, and if the fanbase on it’s own is that small, it’d be way too easy to find out who wrote it, drama would start, essentially it’s to avoid rocking the boat. In other words, typical jp autism.

I’m a tsukibito so I can only talk through my experience. some jps would just write whatever shitty game they wished for in video comments (going back to the discussion about fans only wanting “comfy” things, and I think this is a problem with yume fangirls in particular) or would draw it in fanart, that’s sort of how Shanti came to be (one of the better requests). I don’t know if they’re still around, but there was a weirdo who would write huge lists, dump them in the comments and then delete after a day. That’s an extreme example though. Most are able to express if they feel unsatisfied, but it’s usually through a positive statement like “Hopefully one day you can ___” or “I want to see ___”

I think it’s up to the talent to cultivate their relationship with their fans, and how they expect the fans to communicate with them. If they can’t even express disappointment at such a basic thing as a poll, I think that problem lays with Uyu, not them
