He's right though. What kinda idiot pays 10x what a company is valued at in its BEST year ever.
Twitter before the buyout had grossed about 4.5 billion thanks in large part to advertisers who made up 90% of that revenue. Elon bought twitter for 44 billion which was incredibly stupid. Then, he started to chase off advertisers left and right to the point where the site was making 40% less revenue than before and even after offering massive discounts for advertising on the site, was still 18% less profitable during February, when they held the Superbowl, than it was the year before
The site breaks daily and even if advertisers want to post ads, they have no idea who to contact since musk can't keep up the costs of employees. He's basically been trying to get away with using stuff without paying for it but nobody is letting him do that.
It doesn't help that he tried picking fights with employees protected under disability acts and is battling several different lawsuits over his repeated misconduct in numerous different positions he's held. His blue checkmark system has driven other potential advertisers off the site as well since your average Joe is too retarded to know the difference between a fake and a real person/company and with this new system being implemented next month it's likely this will continue to happen because no advertiser is going to want to pay $1k on top of advertising fees to verify their legitimacy.

Okay so lemme explain this to you
He paid over 10x what twitter made in its best year

Now twitter makes the majority of it's money through advertisers

Twitter has lost over half of its top advertisers in less than a year and is not gaining new advertisers to replace the ones it's lost and if anything is losing more advertisers because at this point advertisers literally don't know who to even talk to since there's been so many layoffs

Elon could not afford the bill for twitter and had to take out several loans in order to pay for it. These loans all come with interest rates that are pretty damn high.

Elon is on the hook now for several billion dollars in loans and stuck with a site that is generating less money than it has since the pandemic.

Do you understand why he's likely going to have to declare twitter to be bankrupt? He's not making shit off of it and each decision he's made has further driven advertisers away because literally nobody trusts him.

Also stocks are private, a majority of them are owned by musk who is using government funds for SpaceX to try to prop up the failing site.

I have spaced this out for you so maybe you can read it without your head hurting from too many words being located in one location. If you have any further questions I'd love to explain how marketing works to you since I literally work in marketing and our company was one of many that pulled out. It's not a large company but we now make more money advertising on Pinterest than we did on twitter.

They were like sharks who smelled blood in the waters, opening their hungry jaws, if you ever get that many lawyers telling you how much money you could be sued for, you know you fucked up and if halli doesn't sue musk he's either way too nice of a person or just a sucker.

Advertisers whether you like it or not are your lifeline in the internet ocean. When your site depends on advertising to be able to afford the servers it's ran off of and the office your employees have to work at losing advertisers is like losing blood and musk is bleeding out right now.
Twitter blue at best has bout 300k subs, that means it's making about 28 million a year give or take a few million dollars depending on regional pricing. Now we take into account that about 30% of that is gonna go to Google/apple and the rest is taxed.
Twitter reported in 2022 in it's 2nd fiscal quarter that it cost roughly 1.5 billion dollars to run which means that we're not even scratching the surface of how much it costs to run twitter let alone make up for the lack of advertising revenue

Twitter and Tesla could both go bankrupt and Musk would still be worth 50 billion plus give or take. The idea he cares about “7-8 figures” is hilarious. Okay so I'll walk you through these numbers
When you Google "how many people are subscribed to Twitter blue" the first result says 300,000, so you take 8 x 300,000, this gives you 2.4 million.
You take that number and you multiply it by 12 to account for how much yearly revenue that is, that's where you get 28.8 million.
Google and apple take a 30% cut out of playstore/app store purchases which twitter blue is.
This means that a good chunk of those subscribers pay 30% to their app store
And everything you make is of course, subject to taxes. If it's regionally priced this means they're making even less off of every purchase since it takes a lot more money to make up the same price and you often have to offer regional discounts because of that.
So even if we claim that musk has cut down on business expenses by an astronomical 50% since its previous owners and that still leaves us with a whopping 750 million dollars in operating costs alone.
Now you might say to yourself "well that's not so bad!" now keep in mind that he's on the hook for several billion in loans and even if he wasn't there's a 40% revenue drop since his take over which means he's still making way less than he paid for off of it since twitter was only ever worth 4.5 billion

I've literally explained this but $8 a month before taxes and cuts isn't enough to keep the lights on man. And I don't really think too many corporations are gonna be keen on paying $1k a month plus advertising fees.
I've done the math and even 1 million users paying USD (which would be about 1/63 users in the US) paying that wouldn't even amount to 1/100th of what twitter made in its most profitable year ever before taxes and wages and other expenses.
Twitter since then has burned bridges with nearly half of those advertisers who caused it to be profitable and all sources indicate that it's been losing money since the buyout.

Now on top of the money it's losing, it was never worth 44 billion, of which Elon owes about 20 billion dollars with interest back to the people he took the loans out from. I'm really not sure why it's so hard to understand that twitter is a terrible purchase and purchasing it for 10x it's worth was a terrible idea

It might end like tumbler, where only the far leftist still exists there (so Twitter will house mostly elon fanboys). But it might stay as a power house in social media IF Japanese artists decided to stay on Twitter. Tumble was big because it housed artists before it drove them off. Now, Japanese artists network and find jobs on Twitter, and if Elon was retarded enough to drive them off one day, the artists will flock to another website and most will follow them there, as most use Twitter for pretty art and anything else is a bonus. Actually....about that
When you start digging into his stuff he kinda has a history of being an absolute fuckup, he's basically Mark Zuckerberg all over again and has a history of just buying stuff and
PayPal literally was almost even more fucked than it is because he was too stupid to understand how to use unix and wanted everyone to use windows servers and in general was causing so many problems that he was bought out at the cost of him being labeled as one of the head people of the project even though it was more functional without him
Then you have Tesla. Another company that was functional, he bought it and made it into a big deal but was later removed from his position as CEO and Tesla is struggling to keep up due to a failure to really keep up with competition and several investors are starting to think he's spending way too much time on Twitter to the point of calling him out publicly on Twitter about him being terminally online

I am going to be honest with you, I slightly like Twitter now because I don’t actually get fucking suspended over “suspicious behavior” ( I never fucking talked about politics in my fucking entire life I just made an account and went to follow my favorite artists then boom got fucking suspended). But elon promised he will fix all Twitter problems but he ducking barely fixed shit while made shit worse and that’s why he is a lolcow now. In terms of code development and performance, I can’t believe I am saying this but musk made twitter before to look fucking competent compared to his mess (at least before they have the audacity to beta test new features , now musk directly experiment (or he did tests but they were so inadequate) on the fucking user and making the website goes down on the process.)
But I guess it might be positive if you think about it on terms of features added, elon added too many features in short period of time (but they brought fucking millions of bugs with them) but old twitter barely ever added new feature (excuse is that they tested them throughly, I didn’t trust them before but compared to musk, their new features did introduce many bugs but at least not musk level)

Social media unlike most software have the luxury to go stagnant for longer, since if you got large user base their content can sustain the website.
I understand where elon is coming from, he’s trying to solve the advertising problem as fast as possible, and I honestly think his ideas is good in theory. But his fast way of implementing things which cause a lot of bugs that harm content creators. And also there were stupid rules that you are not allowed to link to other sites which is fucking was retarded from Elon ( a lot of Japanese artists got suspended for linking their marshmallow and it was known in JP as the greate Twitter freeze, most of those artists didn’t bother to reinstate their accounts due to anger, this damage Twitter content and user base).
I think Elon’s idea work if he had a good software engineer in his company that can implement this features while having good understating of the code but Twitter is Twitter, it was never known for its outstanding code, and he’s bad at software himself so… (and no he can’t hire a new one if he doesn’t wants to implement the features fast enough, the good software engineer should be already familiar to the code).
So Elon’s fault is A) he doesn’t really understand software engineer B) Twitter don’t have actually competent workers to actually realize Elon’s vision C) He doesn’t understand what made Twitter popular (or the internet in general)

Realistically speaking what ideas has he really implemented that impressed you? Honestly he made it way harder to tell that businesses were legitimate and continues to do so with his update on April 1st
He allowed for longer videos to be uploaded to twitter at the cost of $8 a month but this just creates more stress on the servers since it now has even more to deal with when it comes to both compression and hard drive space which racks up the costs over time and for the most part I don't think anyone has any real problems with the shorter videos before hand.
He allowed twitter blue to type more but if you have an older version of the app the way he implemented this literally makes it to where you have to read the tweets in your browser
He brought ui elements that were previously hidden behind a click up to the front but a lot of users really didn't like this and to this day use extensions and older apps to get rid of it because it feels incredibly cluttered
