"Parasocial" is just a made up word. If you are wondering wether or not it's okay to be parasocial that just means your brain has been infected by shitty ideas.
Might as well wonder whether or not the women you like resemble your mother, or if you might be the soul of an ancient alien trapped in the body of a monkey.

It's a vulnerability in the minds of the many that the few have learned to exploit. It is much easier to get people who are in a parasocial relationship with you to:
- pay you money
- buy you stuff
- buy your stuff
- buy into your scams
- whiteknight you on the internet etc.
It's like a cheat code in Sims, which grants you limited authority over someone's emotions and valuables as long as you continue pandering to them. You just need to understand what audience have you gathered and what exactly are they watching you for
And not, I repeat, not drink the Kool-Aid when it comes to considering your viewers "your friends". Don't even think about it. It's like getting high from your own supply.

All streamers are parasocial, it's an inherent trait of the medium.

Normal is a meme and healthy is up for so much debate that it may as well be too. Being parasocial is fine as long as you never hurt/stalk anyone.

Humans are social creatures so it makes sense to try to form bonds with people you interact with frequently. Even if it is one sided interaction.

Like many things in life, it can be done in a healthy way but it can also become excessive and harmful.

I was about to write something like this. My first oshi had me become parasocial in a way that it made me unproductive and ruined my mental health. My parasocial relationship with my second oshi motivates me and brings me comfort. It’s fine to be parasocial as long as it doesn’t harm you

I don’t want to name my first oshi but she was in JP. Current oshi is Fauna

The term parasocial has quite literally come to encompass any emotional feelings you have for a person you've never met. The newsman who brings your parents the evening weather, the popstar who tries to get her name in the headlines by being a nasty whore, characters in books, even historical people who are dead but have their lives recorded so you can learn what they went through. Sympathy and feelings of camaraderie are all parasocial.

It just happens we've got a meme world where streamers want to get free money for playing games meant for 5 year olds created by 45 year old autistic men, without having to do real work, without having to suffer any 'weird' comments from the mentally ill people they have in their audience.

True, it's almost unavoidable in this medium where you are constantly interacting with your oshi
>Healthy
Not at all. When you invest your time and money into a person you expect to get something in return, even if it's simply being friends with them, and with most chuubas you'll only get your name read or maybe a quick acknowledgement of your comment at most. It's a completely one sided relationship where it's impossible to come out with a positive interaction as a viewer.
The only exception to this would be 1 or 2 views at most where if you watch them constantly and interact with them on social media they may actually start caring about you if they are decent people
