I hate that all the advice for growing is just 'pay attention to chat, chat with them like friends, pay attention to them, welcome every person to the stream' when I already do that but have basically no chatters so chatting with chat can never be a main feature of my streams.

All the successful people started with active chats and have never had to struggle. The ones who did struggle are those like Iron Mouse who got in early and built up over a decade of streaming, which is an entirely different environment to the one we have now.

I streamed to 0 to 2 viewers and an almost completely silent chat for several months when starting out last year. I hit triple digits from time to time these days.
Be persistant, socialize and use social media like twitter and so on.

Go into it with an attitude that if you don't have any viewers, you can at least make an entertaining vod. Let's players made YT content without a chat to bounce off for years pre-streaming. You can do it anonchama

If you just want chatters play Monster Hunter World or Stardew Valley until completion. Theyre easy categories with no competition and the games are long enough that you can build some consistency off of it. Your viewership will tank after but some people will stick around.

It's from a cheap kit I got from a foreclosed-on gun shops inventory auction for even cheaper, but I spent a good amount of time on a grinder getting the barrel profile closer to a period-correct derringer. I'm gonna have to rifle the barrel and do a bit of other work, so I might as well have made the barrel myself. I'm planning on having most of my stream stuff in the room I'm setting up for sewing, but I can set up steel on a berm outside so I can still shoot on-stream if I want to.

But I've really been wanting to finish the kit re-build, but I still need to source a decent oxy-acetalyne torch before I can easily do the poured-pewter nosecap to go forward on that project. Sewing gets less initial views, but most gunsmithing streams trail off once people realize it's a lot of tedious filing and sanding for real gunsmithing, and not just assembling ar-15's.
