Stock fraud and botting memes aside, she piqued people's interest because not only she was the first NijiJP debut in a while (not counting the virtual academy thing) but she was a solo debut instead of the usual ACCELERATE wave, people also subbed her only for the meme. After she reached 1M subs, people realized she's just a very middle if the road vtuber with nothing special really going for her and stopped watching her.

Salome shouldve been in Holo. She should have 2m subs by now.

simpler explanation was that it went viral because it pushed all the right buttons at the right time, and the explosive growth and gigantic viewership came FROM the virality, and not the other way around; occam's razor and all that

From Desuwa to Honeys to even laughing like le cute western girl from big chuubas like Ame and literally whos like Freya do, I hate it all with no discrimination. I believe the botting memes, if she was really a viral phenomenon, she wouldn't have fallen into irrelevancy as fast as she did. I mean she lost half her viewership in the span of a fucking week, a WEEK. And it kept going downhill from there.

Look at how other viral chuubas that attracted normalfags (Gura and Kobo) did, yes they're nothing compared to their prime anymore, but they certainly didn't drop off the face of the internet in the span of a week, it took over a year for their hype to fizzle out slowly and they're still fucking big even after that.

Salome's sudden implosion was more unnatural than her sudden rise.
