The other problem with this one that keeps getting brought up is that back then, almost ALL of those sponsorships and events were pushed on the top ~10 vtubers, who were overworked and had to take a lot of breaks away from streaming.
The mid band didn't get shilled on the normie front through sponsors and billboards till around 2022, nor were they big enough to attract attention of all the incoming stream tourists.
The likes of Lulu which did stream a lot, ended up thought of as solo or Hololive streamers by all the new viewers due to this and point a) the brand being diluted.
