It doesn't have to be incorrect, sure. It's just uncommon, and being less common makes you less able to socialize with those who are common.

It means a specific set of abnormal behaviors, yes. That is "real". Even if you think it is simply a philosophical difference, we gave a name to the philosophical difference, that's all. the difference between it being real or not is semantic, some people have a set of behaviors that we can classify as "autism" out of ease.
We may even be able to treat these people with similar methods, and they might also find solace in knowing there are people with the same abnormality. Whether this is "real" or not is irrelevant.
