I've been around for a while now. But, for what it's worth, I think that Yoshika was one of the main chuubas who actually got me excited to watch streams in 2022. There's plenty of other Vsingers here that I enjoy. But, I am not aware of any that fulfill all my personal needs as a viewer as well as she does.

It seems to attract more viewers for a vtuber in Hololive.

It gives me the opposite feeling like I should be doing something more productive when I watch someone else play.
Maybe it's the difference between the slave mindset and master mindset.
People in the first group want to be distracted to ignore their problems and to not think about what's important for them.

People in the second group find it more difficult to play games like before because they have many things they want to do and not enough time for everything.

When I watch my cousins play, I am engaging socially with them, making jokes etc. When I watch vtubers play, I'm often socializing with some friend groups, private chats, or public chats. If you watch indies with 3-digit views at most, you can even interact with the vtuber and share ideas with everyone in stream.
The games are just an excuse to socialize. Otherwise I just play the games myself. The games have to be interesting, of course, but their real purpose is to facilitate social activities. It's not like you can go to a random bar and talk about, say, how to quickrun some levels of Ghostrunner.

Most gaming streams aren't intended to be dominating your attention, they're second monitor while you do things and glance over at the good parts while listening to them talk. They're intended as lower effort streams that allow the streamer to pad out your schedule to keep yourself in viewer's mind without having to just talk to chat for however long which can be difficult if you do it regularly and run out of topics, similar to appearing on a variety show used to/still is for more traditional entertainers vs getting interviewed which is more akin to a zatsu. You're correct that Holo, and most vtubers use gaming streams as a way to get new viewers, but very few have it as the end game of their content, especially the ones that are more like idols and less Twitch like in their goals.

Think of it like having a Seinfield or Friends rerun on the TV while you're working around the house, except mildly more interesting because you know how the game is going to go but you don't know how the girl is going to react to it.

We've lost two akachan akuma recently or about to, one being Ouma Kirara and the other being Saki Akuma. The other reincarnated but kept most of her videos in her previous identity available. Despite having a proper graduation unlike Yumeno Lilith, the whole being of Mirutani Nia of NoriPro Music was removed from existence. I am afraid they will treat Oma Kirara the same way. she recently privatized a singing stream claiming to have made many mistakes and that it was embarassing for her so she hid it.
In my opinion she sounded fine and it was just an excuse to make it unavailable. This is usually not a good sign and some hold a tradition where vsingers and vtubers in general will delete or privatize some content as an indicator that in the near future they will nuke their persona. Gaming fits the same needs as working or creating a business.
The times people play games massively is usually when they are studying without an outlet for their creation desire or jobless.
RPGs have the concept of improvement built into it rewarding you for improving your character as opposed to real life where it's hard to know what an improvement is and you don't get rewarded the same way for your own efforts.

What you watch a stream of is usually what you are interested in.
If you watch mostly gaming streams then you are interested in games.

There are people who watch gaming streams while other mainly watch singing streams due to this difference of preference.
Watching vtubers is mainly about socializing.

I don't know if this is a good or bad thing when I think of the future outcomes this leads to.
Youtube allowed me to manifest miracles into my life by allowing people from all over the world with different views to reach me.
But it is also trying to create an addiction by filling up their time with infinite content.

Shouldn't we try to get something from the real world closer to us rather than from the virtual one?

I don't really socialize in a singing stream. It's not like I'm gonna be telling the singer or other people how to sing, or share tidbits about singing with them. There may be some chatting moments, but overall it's not the same.

Usually I check ragtag for archives. Maybe go request that they archive your vtuber. I have used ragtag for a few retired vtubers.
My passing knowledge of Ouma is just from seeing her on holodex when I search for live covers, and forgetting about it.

I think some people go look for different "smaller" vtubers after finding Hololive because of the viewer the dilution effect which is ironical because vtubers want to grow their channel which has the result of diluting their viewers.
Thus by supporting a vtuber and helping them grow we can cause them to grow too big and the same cycle repeats.

A bit tangential. I spent 2-2.5 years watching a HoloJp grow from basically nothing (usually 30 ccv or so) in their PL. When she graduated, she sang for me from a simple request in chat. It meant a lot to me. My favorite song of hers. After she joined Holo, I was very happy for her. But, I don't watch her anymore. This is someone I had watched dozens and dozens of hours for. I wonder if this is a normal behavior. How common is it for us to drop chuubas just because they got too big and our level of interaction changed?

She became happier after solving her issue which made her popular, but popularity then changed her and she made mistakes which made her lose some of her previous fans.

Haachama is the best example of this phenomenon.
She had comfy streams with some minecraft screaming and funny YABEE moments like walking into the GTA lounge when she didn't take it seriously.
Then she decided to try to grow her channel as much as possible (influence of her manager?) by creating a fake personality and being fake to generate hype.

Paid lives on YouTube came up the other day. The anon said it was already implemented but not available in Japanese. Nobody will do this, but if you gated a live behind a $50 (or whatever the ticket price) membership, you're essentially doing the same thing.
