Sooner than later.

Everything has been put on hold for the moment because Polka has been completely overworked. She was feeling pretty poorly near Christmas and the New Years but she's slowly getting her energy up and she'll start to get back into things as her schedule starts to open back up.

She had to deal with preparations for her birthday, Polka/Luna song collaboration recording, multiple other appearances, and the general malaise that comes with winter and the low pressure it brings that really fucks with her physical condition. She really hasn't had a true break in quite a while so this one looked like it was good for her condition.

I just discovered Hololive and I think Polka is my oshi. Am I in danger? What should I do?

If your primary goal at the moment is following streams, my advice would be boot up some vods (games primarily, trying to follow Polka Zatsus is a whole other level), and start listening for words/phrases you hear repeatedly. The girls use a lot of the same vocab across games, and understanding particular words/phrases can make it possible to get the general idea of what's going on, even if you don't understand everything yet. Things like 'abunai' (dangerous), 'nigero' (run away), 'omoshiroi' (interesting), etc. will be used a lot, and can clue you in to what is happening. That's how I started anyway, just to allow me to at least follow along in minecraft/ark/mohun/etc. Beyond that, it's just going to be a matter of doing your reps whenever you can, to slowly build up your word/grammar knowledge.

try everything and see what works for you. there's thousands of resources out there and everyone will tell you different, so you just have to try and find out yourself.
when you start learning vocab you aren't going to be able to really detect it at all when coming at you, spoken at full native speed, and especially Polka speed. so be prepared for a long road.

though a couple little things that are helpful and you may as well install
Yomichan - browser plugin to make jp dictionary pop up with hotkey, when hovering jp text. for a fun practice, see if you can translate some JP tweets with it before just machine translating the page. unfortunately the dictionaries for it are not all very complete but it does include quite a lot of slang and casual phrases you won't get from a formal textbook / machine translation.
LiveTL plugin / just watching through Holodex - you can use it to machine translate the chat (when it actually works and doesn't glitch out) to get some context clues about what the streamer is talking about, based on what the chatters are saying. then you can pretend to totally follow the conversation with a 'なるほど'!

If you are still in process of learning kana you must have started just a week ago or so, I guess? Next steps would be remembering hundred of most used N5 words along with kanji and going through couple of grammar guides, be it Tae Kim or sakubi.

If you want to follow along I suggest watching clips. Watch it with subs, then watch again without (or other way around). Take a few you particularly like and rewatch it every now and then to the point where you can reproduce it from memory. This way you get to learn some words with meaning, pronunciation and usage context. You can use https://holodex.net/channel/UCK9V2B22uJYu3N7eR_BT9QA/clips as clip source. Don't forget to enable clips in Japanese in settings.

I believe there is no much point in picking content to watch just because it's easy. From my experience to be able to follow along with regular streams you need to consume thousands of hours with basic grammar and vocabulary done and who knows how much before that. With this much you will either run out of easy content long before that or loose your motivation watching stuff you don't enjoy watching.
