depends
on the /wvt/ side of things, you can take Spacer as an excellent example of making lore your main shtick. the guy loves sci-fi and he's able to use well detailed worldbuilding to attract sc-fi fans
there's not a lot of chubas that do that though, and that's mainly because not everyone's able to keep in-character for all of their public appearances

My plan is to work my lore into my persona in such a way I can switch to it flawlessly when needed. I am a natural born liar and doing that is not really that difficult for me. Ayoo drunk 27 year old with 2 jobs and planning out his Vtubing shtick here. Trust me, I've wasted my life up until this point and I bet that I will waste it further because nobody will be sane enouigh to follow me even if I do my very fucken' best.

Life is short and meaningless, everything we do makes no damn sense and in the greater scope of things, repercurssions are to be limited to this space rock flying through space with 800KM per hour or something because we're moving with our sun which is moving with our galaxy and honestly, why does it even matter.

You have one life, one attempt, and I don't care what other religions say. There's Heaven? I've yet to meet someone who's been there. You can be reincarnated? I've yet to meet the bonobo monkey who has been so.

Just say fuck it in the wind and plan your Vtuber career how you wish and do it because YOU WANT TO. Do you think it will make you happy? Unhappy? You don't know? Just do it and see how it ends. Treat it like a job. Or even a 3rd job if you're an autist like me who has done a bachelor's, master's, and is in a job domain completely unrelated to both and has a 2nd job who is also unlrelated to everything else.

This world is nonsense and we're trying to trundle through. Why not have some fun vtubing?

I look in the mirror and see another mirror. And honestly? That's cool. My personna has been fucked by a horrible middle to highschool, I've yet to completely get over my insecurities and now I am planning TF out my vtuber because it keeps me going.

Either that or I would be watching some random anime or doing something else completely useless.

I am rambling because I am already drunk as an Irishman in his prime.

Just do yourself and have some fun without harming others.

Realistically speaking it's difficult. You'd have to fill a specific niche which is approachable by a lot of people.

Female Vtubers have it generally easy because there are more lonely men on the internet than there are lonely women. You can even see it through the memes, working for your waifu and whatnot.

If you're smart enough, you could maybe try to cover a subject which isn't generally covered in the VT community.

I cannot help you with that subject, because I don't know what that is.

You could use popular male VTubers as case studies, but the most subscribed ones are female so there's that...

I've been putting the idea of streaming on the backburner for so long now, nearly 3 months or something I think, but never bothered actually putting any effort into it until today where I decided to go live for the first time with 0 expectations, I didn't have an avatar up, I didn't even speak, but about an hour and a half in I got my first follower and proceeded to have a nice chat with the guy in the twitch chat. It's a very small, baby step, but god damn do I feel motivated after it.

weird question, but i made a twitter account and my "What's Happening" thing on the side is filled with sports topics. i hate sports, i don't give a fuck about it, and i exclusively follow vtubers (holo, niji, indies, all of them), but i never get anything related to vtubers. it's all just fucking sports. (pic rel)

is there any way to make sure sports never shows up here because i legitimately do not give a fuck about sweat men throwing a ball around. i thought following 3k+ worth of vtubers would let twitter's algorithm know that i only want other vtuber related content, but it keeps giving me this fucking retarded bullshit.

Apparently I have to say this because I've seen it a lot in these threads, but DON'T GO INTO THIS THINKING YOU CAN "SUCCEED"

Go into this because you'll enjoy it even if there are few people there. If you stress yourself saying you have to get x number of viewers, do a shit ton of networking, x amount of interaction from your chat, x amount of donations etc, you'll just burn out on it. You want this to be a fun hobby not another incredibly low paying job ON TOP of another job to keep the power bills on. Even if you get a ton of viewers, eventually you'll drop streaming if you turn it into some big grind you can't enjoy. Eventually with enough time, persistence and a good personality the viewers just naturally come to you. Just chill bros.

I've done some thinking since the last poll I made. Apparently my choices of games were terrible, so after some thinking, I have a new list of games to decide which would be best to debut with. I still might not go with the most popular choice, but I think it's best to gauge interest and get some more opinions.

Big misconception, its harder to get an audience by playing a niche game but the few viewers you get will likely be more passionate about the game itself than you. I remember helping a friend stream My Summer Car as his first stream and most of the chatters were people complaining about how bad he was at the game, which we presumed was because the only people who were finding the stream really really liked My Summer Car.

Maybe pic related would be good then? It's relatively short (1-2 hours), isn't hard to get good at and should be pretty watchable for most people. I feel like it could show off my personality well enough too. I could also try out some of those chilia's arts kusoges I see all the time.

You won't get consistent viewership because they aren't super popular, and you'll get less as it goes on as a lot of people don't like to jump in right in the middle of a story.
