You can solve the clipper problem by commissioning them. OP, see if some clippers are willing to be paid to clip your members. This is an actual thing with AKA Virtual (a Japanese corpo) Indonesian members; they paid a clipper 4-5 dollars per minute of clip. There’s tons of cross pollination of fans and they’re introduced to each other via casual collabs and so on.

That’s probably the main growth factor starting out at least. Following that it’s just getting lucky and getting word out. Clipfags are huge and you can try to get in on the larger clippers compilations. But other viral things that just get lucky can help.

Just start with the basics of getting clips out there and pay an editor to do some. Just ask the group members to try to keep some paper near by and jot down when in a stream they think something clippable happens. You'll save money if you are able to point to a section to clip, rather than asking them to find content.

My rrat as to why mixed-gender collabs tend to suck (and why they don’t *have* to) is that a lot of the appeal of vtubers is that male viewers get to see into the mind of a girl and female viewers get to see into the mind of a guy. When that screen and avatar is there for a barrier, streamers tend to feel more comfortable opening up about that sort of stuff. During mixed-gen collabs, a lot of vtubers put up the usual normalfag kayfabe that guys and girls tend to have with each other.
Basically, if you do have a mixed-gender collab, make sure it’s only between vtubers who act completely the same no matter who they’re collabing with (and while they’re streaming alone). In other words, probably a literal autist who doesn’t or can’t do that kind of kayfabe.
Anyway, beyond that, have good chemistry between the members, be good at establishing chemistry outside the corpo, and just be the kind of people other online creators like hanging out with. Networking is important, and small corpos are gigantic unityfags who want to stick together and fight the inexorable pull of the YouTube algorithm towards Hololive and Nijisanji.

Instead, utilise your artists and build their content and ‘character’ around their artistry.
For example if you have a dragon girl whose streams currently consist of drawing outfits, instead make her showcase those dresses through or with others in the same way a fashion show does. Viewers want the fashion show, not the seamstress in the back’s webcam.

Fans love new outfit reveals and redebuts. That’s your best option to capitalise on and make engaging.

People won't go out of their comfort zones if the content is too similar to what others are doing, even if it's better than the alternative by whatever metric you use to decide that.

Not all streams need to be unique but at least some need to so you can get some attention from outside and maybe they will stay, but if they're doing the same as everyone at best you will get some groomers.
