Think you have Cfa rather than csayour far north west along who border and ocean. With that in mind, do you have any terrain requests at all that can be taken into consideration?

>> No.39376126

>>39375807
Good to know, if I have any requests, it would be for our borders with /who/ to be a bit more natural by elevation. What I mean is that the ridge they have would be extended down to us and one of my ridges extended down.

The reason for this is that I would think when the Republic and the Grand Principality made their borders, they likely would both take into account the terrain and neither of them, both as proud nation, would want one side to have the high ground along the whole border. As I personally did not create these borders and have no intentions of changing them, I think this is a solid reason that can help make sense of things. Anything else really doesn't matter right now.

Speaking of your map, I don't think you will have a caldera lake at Mount Migo because it is a shield volcano (pic related) like Kīlauea in Hawaii. If you got rid of the Caldera lake or at least moved them, it would work fine. I can say that your hydrology is impressive so I think that any changes that would be made would be solely related to you and /who/

Err. First I have some very slight concerns over the formation of that ridge. I'm against making too much changes to the terrian because it might be a problem when considering the geological history and formation of the different features. But that's assuming the map generator we used when the project started in 100% correct, and that we would actually be that autistic over it.

Second, there is really no need because while I don't know what you have planned for hoshi's pre-/vt/ history, Hoshiyomia existed for longer than the Republic. Before the Republic was formed they are mostly a collection of independent petty-states. And only pretty much right up to before the current state was founded did they start to consolidate into notable state entities. So it can go many ways. One is that it is the extent of the core province of the Empire that became the Principality. And the Western coastal bit was a relatively recent expansion when the North was still a bunch of city-states.
Also about that, I wrote that before that point some nobles in the Principality were invited to become princes of some of the petty-states in the north. Does that work for you and won't screw up any of your plans?

Thanks! I'll get to work.
What about a compromise. Not a massive ridge, but on my side you have a line of ridges that in essence accomplish this without messing anything up. Overall, it just makes me wonder why we wouldn't have set the border a little north otherwise. It's not a major issue, but I wouldn't mind seeing it just act as such just because I looked at meps map and got a little jealous over how clean the borders look KEK.

tl;dr: Just have what serves as a natural border instead of major kilometres of ridge changes. Small and neat. Could make good lore too!

Ah you guys caught me on a pretty unfortunate moment, right now I can't quite offer much in discussion, I will ask hoshiyomia to please tell us about the plans for premodern history, and how Hoshiyomia interacted with the pre-republican states, if we do that, we could probably come to some sort of agreement without having to change the border too radically.

>> No.39378823

>>39377917
No issue!

I personally assume that our nation would also have some degree of division, and probably independent states even for a while. These could even extend up into what is now /who/ around that peninsula. I would assume that you would have a mix of merchant republics, principalities, signores, counties, etc. I think that while we will all follow the same faith, that there would be different cultures that extend into your lands (Pluralism sounds fun for you guys actually). I cannot remember where your nation was formed from, but I will show a map that potentially could have been part of our culture and maybe now is mixed with you.

As for the current borders, It might be a wise idea for there to be some sort of war between us or a series of wars before we ultimate make peace with honour. I still want to have these border mountains or whatever and I am not sure when we are unified. Perhaps some of the hoshi states in your lands actually joined your republic as our nation became more aristocratic as what is now the current Grand Principality was being formed, which I am placing it's region of birth in Melano, Appia and Capital Region. We can make a fun timetable of this stuff, but ultimate I would like to see the little changes in the map so the borders can make some sense geographically on my side.

Think about some of this, perhaps it gives some of your cities and peoples some flavour.

Oh that's excellent, sort of a joint warring states period of 2 different cultures, that and the conflict could be on the status of the petty states from the frontier, it'd give us a good reason to have the peninsula under Republican control and to have our contries hold some amount of reasonable deniability on whether or not we did go to war, which would help the governments spin out propaganda depending on the status of the diplomatic relationship.
If we are to have no changes in the map, it could also be reasoned to have come from some peace agreement to facilitate trade across the rivers and plains. If we are to have some small geographic changes, then some smaller hills could be placed as important museums and forts. That and I'd have to revise the hydrology map to see where I could put them.
I'll have to see how I develop the Hoshiyomian cultural influence on the Republic, sounds fun.

Hai, FellOwl desu. Well if you are following the conversion then Hoshiyomia's formation or founding is at 35 VTE. There a couple /jp/ threads before /vt/ was created but they died with barely any replies. It really depends. Hoshiyomia at this point (35 VTE) could be still a quite small state that would expand and grow from a certain area within the contemporary principality.
And yeah that's sort of the idea behind the princely states during the Archaic era of the Republic Might or might not thing of a more creative name for it.. Petty states along the border and coasts would adopt some of the culture and governance from the south which had a deeper and longer Imperial influence.

Regarding the proposal I have. It is of course not 100% accurate but basically, the idea is that Hoshiyomia, previously an imperial province was restricted THAT river can't read it sorry. And then it expanded in multiple stages. But those areas that it expanded into are of course not just uninhabited but might also already be colonized by people hailing from Hoshiyomia, escaping the chaos from the world split.

I do have some ideas on the status of that peninsula but I'd like to hear your thoughts on the formation first

>> No.39381669 [DELETED]

>>39380130
Uhh, this is where my brain isn't sure because as far as I remember it, most of the problems in /jp/ were on the EN side so I cannot give you an idea about the empire since I need to think more of it overall. Thanks for the ideas.

Sorry I gave a poor response that really didn't make sense. I want to say some things on this however.
>1. I have no idea what the boundaries of the Holo Empire were, when any break happened whether it be directly or vassally, or how this is being handled to the degree that I can say for certain on it. It confuses me that when we look at the map, and take the Council out of play, I am essentially either isolated because of micomet which isn't factored in here from the rest of the empire or that the map you have shown for the province is missing a great amount of territory since micomet as a thread wouldn't exist in jp for obvious reasons, but would likely fall under me and sakuran under this idea.
>2. I want also to say that your nation did not exist until 499, and I would need to check the lore to see where it came from but I did want to mention that I much prefer >>39379317 this to your own proposal since this is more inline with my vision personally. It gives you guys more interesting background and me as well compared to what I think you are proposing currently.
I also am not sold on the concept that after jp, we all are playing a game of Civilization (I might have misread this completely) where the other lands are totally uninhabited either, but lean more towards them being of similar cultures but disorganized.

Overall, I really need to hear the whole story from your side to give you a proper response and if it seems like I am dismissing all of it, I am not as much as I am just sort of in limbo. Thanks!

As for what we do, what we do is make a nation about our homethread. I represent Suisei's thread, and the genesis of all creation comes down to how /vt/ works, its fanbases, its threads and our oshis.

I personally enjoy this quite a bit and if this appeals to you, I recommend reading this https://rentry.org/vtwbg-intro.. Our magic system. Think magic rocks. Each nation has its own version that draws from the concepts of their chuuba or fanbase theme.
>Do we have any other ID writers aside from those listed?
All the ids have writers, aside from Anya, iofi and Ollie iirc.
>How many reps recommend do I need to do before i write shit?
I would suggest at least skimming through your neighbours lore so you know what the area is like, but other than that, no reps needed, really.

As expected, I want to make this clear that you absolutely do not have to turn your nation into just non stop sex with children shithole and that horniness doesn't need to be outwardly shown either. You have the freedom to build it how you like however, Moonafic made his thread's horniness rather apparent but it doesn't make his thread "Sex People" in lore at all. Personally, I would play into the Water Shaman stuff for religion and for the cunny aspect, have marriage common at a young age for girls. Ringo is ringo, and we have a few ringofags here. I would recommend also looking into your climate too, and thinking of your neighbors as well. They are ID so you likely have some sort of relations as a thread with them. Just build what you think makes the most sense given what your thread is about and have some fun as I mentioned.

Unfortunately i havent yet made one, but I do have a general idea of what each area is like

>Four Coins Archipelago
Tropical Monsoon Climate with the northernmost island possibly being rainforest.
>Northern Territories
Cfa (Humid Subtropical). Southern areas are slightly drier than the islands.
>Home Island
Mixture of Cfa and Csa (Mediterranean hot summer), switching to Csb (medierranean warm summer) and Cfb (Oceanic) towards the south. Csa and Csb are the largest climate zones.
>Heartflow Coast
Tiny band of Cfa in the north, switches to Csa and Csb for the rest of the area. The far eastern parts may get pockets of Csc (Mediterranean cold summer) in areas where there is high elevation. In the south, in areas of high elevation, may get some Dfb/Dsb (Humid Continental, warm summer)
>Southern Territories
Mostly Cfb. May get Dfb in areas of higher elevation and closer to the west. If there are any Dfb, those areas would be relatively small.

Sadly, I cannot help you much with how you get the rain, but I absolutely can help with how it effects your nation, and even neighbors depending on how powerful this is. Water would mean a lot to your nation on a symbolic level as it literally would be life, so perhaps that is helpful with culture too.

There are still no concrete boundaries yet. Here are some of the notes I wrote regarding the ideas for the hyperwar and pre-/vt/ /hlgg/.

>/jp/ was a post-scarcity world. A different type of magic exists. But still remarkably similar to chuubanite in terms of function and theory.
>Ranging from high fantasy nations like 2hu related generals to sci-fi nations with mechs
>Natives mostly occupy only a relatively small portion of the world.
>Empire was originally a collection of different tribes with their own gods. Gradually became a Republic (with different polities like kingdoms under its administration) ruled by an Ecclesiastic council with a senate of notable people under it. Each member of the council heads the religion of a particular chuuba.
>All chuuba worshipping peoples are pure magic focused, but unlike /jp/ natives they are nowhere as established. Many require slaves and more fertile land to drive their economy and population upkeep.
>Before the big boom in chuuba religion in ~900 BVT. and Empires like Nijisanji and Hololive Global were established, most chuuba worshippers lived as tribals and clans that are loosely associated with each other
> Relationships start to become tense as the empires expand. Occasional slave raids and the growing power of the barbarians are contributing factors
>Hololive Empire was split into two,
>Finally boiled over as the mass of EN barbarians "joined" the Empire
>More so created their own version of the Empire as they settled in the current capital. Still, the central council allowed their goddesses and priests to be represented. And seats in the senate were opened to the barbarian kings.
>The barbarian's numbers and voracity overwhelmed the /jp/ natives. Thier expansion drove many nations to the brink of extinction.
>The activities of the chuuba worshippers also created a disturbance in the magical field of Japonia. Custodians of /jp/ tried their damnest to maintain the field by suppressing chuuba nations.
>Tension within the Holo Empire started to erupt in ~125 BVT. ホロライブ Split from Hololive due to orthodox faction within the Empire unwilling to cede even more power to the now dominant EN faction.
> Finally in 1 BVT, the world splitting even happened. Tried from maintaining the balance of the world from the activities of the chuuba worshippers, the Custodians pleaded for higher powers to create a new world to contain the encroachment of the fabric that holds Japonia together.
>The calamity engulfed the entire world, destroying most manmade structures, notably in lands still inhabited by /jp/ natives witnessed total destruction both to cull the invading worshippers and so it would set back the barbarians and kings of the tribal empire, protecting Japonoia from another invasion.
>Many of the tribal and chuuba worshipping populations were left on the world by the event. Some were displaced thousands of mile from their homeland. The chaos caused the downfall of the Hololive Empire. /jp/ Magic suddenly no longer works, and many of the systems that maintained the Empire was suddenly severed. Many colonies and provinces under the empire declared independence. In places where chuuba worshippers haven't completely colonized the lands, the natives overthrew their oppressors. A general in the /hlg/ capital seized power, "reclaimed" the Hololive Empire and declared himself the Emperor of /hlgg/. While ホロライブ still remained relatively spared from the disaster.

The idea for me is that it expanded to the Western reaches of the continent. Hoshiyomis, a group that settled or are native to what is currently oshiyomia became a pretty central part of the Empire and controls a province. And the Empire gradually expanded up North to the current council nations. (However it probably stoped up to a point, or maybe not, /jp/ is super high fantasy world afterall). Similar to /morig/ Hoshiyomia would gain independence in one way or the other when the world split happened.
it indeed does not exist prior to 499 VTE.

The warring states idea should still work with what I've written so far but I'd also would need to hear more from you about the state of Hoshoyomia between 0-400 VTE.
Here's the passage

There's a million different ways you could go about it, and I'd be up to you to define the core of the magic. Is it a ritual that has to be kept up for the entire duration of the rainfall or a one and done thing? Does it involve sacrifice, human or otherwise? Would there be specific holy sites it would need to be conducted at? Who would conduct it? Can all shamans bring in rain to the same extent, and is it a lone venture or a group effort?

We can help you once you have the rough idea down, but before then it's on you mate. Get them brain juices flowing!

Here's a tutorial to guide you brainstorming some ideas. Since /kobo/ is a cunny thread the process for summoning rain can be related to ToT-ing. Maybe one of its effects is condensation?

How it effects the soil depends how often it gets called in and how long this has occurred. Like, you can likely have green grassland patches in your nation if you have been calling in rain consistently for a long time and planting things (Keep in mind, this likely kills the desert fauna too.)

My SIMPLE advice:
>1. You cannot use this to turn your entire nation into lush grassland and forests. That's beyond the power of Chuubanite. You cannot call in Hurricanes with it either or regular Monsoon rains.
>2.However, and other can say otherwise. I think the best bet is to call in rains that would allow farms to be very successful from rivers. You can have some parts of your nation lush and stuff.
>3. Once you figure some of those aspects out, I honestly would think about rivers, lakes and oasises a lot too, I can help further. Think Egypt honestly.

That could be one of the concepts that drive the shaman magic, yes. Now think about how you would want to conduct the rituals. I would personally suggest not making it something that can be easily done, as changing the weather is quite a powerful thing, and might raise some eyebrows if just any shaman with a stick and some sand to draw in could do it. That's just me tho, do it how you see fit.
>conceptia
Google tells me Romanian? We got another europoor in here?

Also one more hint;
Chuubanite magic does not break the laws of physics. But it does provide a shortcut/catalyst. For example, you cannot get rid of heat because it's energy. But you can use chuubanite to speed up heat transfer/entropy.

yeah, that would be boring man. I looked into shamanism, and nature is harmony and key so killing local fauna sounds stupid to me. I guess I can get a big river or two, like the ones in iraq even.

Starting to think that it makes sense for this occuring at holy sites in Rain Temples or something. Just seems broken for me to go draw something in the sand somewhere and call shit in. Wonder if I could use this "power" to trade.

Having temples makes this shit a lot easier for me. As cunt said, this isn't something you can just do since it requires power as all chuubanite does. Blowing your figurative load a bunch of times in a year will just use all of the chuubanite. Rivers and lakes are always fun, so you have several potential hotspots for temples. I taking into account wind here when we think of this because its blowing down from the north so any storm will go that direction (Well, most would.) If I can get him, our wonder Mepman can make you a map with these rivers flowing in a specific direction, ideally south west imo given the wind so you can have a fertile crescent.

I haven't really bothered on getting on the discussion, but I do dislike the idea of /vt/'s geology being some copy of that of /jp/'s hypothetical world.

Recent events have shown that even today, some tension remains between /jp/ and ホロライブ, even if it still exists there. Though the input of people who were active in ホロライブ back around the time of the split would be welcome.
What would you do instead regarding geology? To be precise, it's not an exact copy, there is some room for changes, stuff being moved around and stuff. "Errors" in the copy, so to speak.
Maybe instead of "tribals" they could be called "decentralized factions", or "city states"? I don't think considering /vy/ a centralized empire is really it either.

I agree with that, /jp/ is really only relevant as far as it relates to /vt/'s history, I just mentioned current-day /hlg/ to illustrate they butted head with /jp/ as well, though it was still mostly /hlgg/.
There could be a mythical super city, that sounds pretty cool. Given the breadth of chuubas and fanbases /vy/ looked at, I feel like constraining it to only one city might be a bit too limiting though, unless it's truly some kind of country-sized metropolis. I guess with /jp/ tech that could be plausible.

My idea for the history between 0-400 VTE is that after the protectorate set up but the empire collapsed all of its territories split into may different polities. The extent of the Imperial protectorat's control would be around the lower navigable section of the Raika. However I also sort of planned that Svadoha (the settler city) was first established by a group coming from beyond or within the /rrat/ mountains. Since the East is supposed to be semi-pastoral small polities it gives enough of a reason for there to be
underdeveloped before the Republic moved in. You can also sort of see it in the river map. There's a clear divide between the North and the South, by the Raika which is navigable for most of it's length.

>>39404396
Thing is /vy/ also includes a lot of different indies and such. We do have high fantasy for /JP/ which can explain how the chuuba worshippers expanded to different continents and eventually cover the whole planet but having them all coming from a single point might be a but limiting. Which is why I abondoned that and went with the roaming tribes(don't think strictly of tribes, just one way to say smaller less organized societies) idea. Since there are so many groups we need to take into account it's hard. Which is also why I first suggested things to be more mythical when the discussion on pre/vt/ times first happened. /OG/ can serve as a common origin myth however. Again, magic.

For one, one of the things that council splits differ with myth ones is the fact that we never "split" from global, that's the main reason I'm hesitant to have actual "imperial" presence on such a large area. I mean, yes, we do have an immense amount of influence from global, but I think trying to tie it directly to previous global control would miss out on important context.
The migrants however, would be a variety of multiple holo fanbases and outsiders looking for a new life in the frontier, this is where we could gain the necessary cultural context for our relations to the rest of the hololive fanbases.

For /vy/, I really don't see why the large amount of discussion for indies and corpos besides holo (and niji for that matter) would be a problem, hell, that's why the splits happened on the first place, holo discussion overruning all others. Just representing them as vague tribal organizations sort of loses on how the future would go on to be, in my opinion.

The protectorate is kind of indirect. It's a very autonomous polity that just hands in tributes and serve as a buffer state. Presumably against schizos further up north (be we don't know if the north was the dumping ground during /JP/ too) Also served as a reason for why they "civilized". In that the influence came in two waves. First was really more so for states to develop and then split again. Then there are like 500 years of history where it's relatively isolated from the outside world besides hoshiyomia and maybe to the Western maritime nations. Second is from the migrants, and that's where all the actual cultural influence from global happened.

Migration we can fit in as both there being previously sparsely populated and wad depopulated by the War.

Maybe. I guess it can be done in parallel. City of /vy/ as common origin of the various faiths.

If you want to set up some sort of modern /who/-/hlgg/ conflict then corpo tribalism could be the thread of it. ("""Unity""" with big quotation marks) The Republic originating from a bunch of rebellious cities that overthrew the Imperial backed government would be an element that cement /hlgg/'s current claim.

And well many of the nomadic people to China's north also sinicized. The process could be more complex than that. But the result would be that the North was left alone until the Council nations were founded. Can be explained by both technology and population movements.

>Would we just draw pentagrams in the sand for rain?
this is why it's important to identify noncanon, and make sure our magic system is actually followed. people get confused with all the "added flavor" and assume that's how things actually work. there is a chuubanite rentry in op, and we just got through discussing how that is not how any of this works, but because there was lore that did not follow those mechanics, there is a way for new people to get confused about the lore.
>>39394235
it would be a wmd if you could just summon a rainstorm anywhere and strike a specific target with lightning or whatever. you could create highly charged smoke that would act like a mini-lightning storm, fit with it's own electromagnetic field, but it wouldn't be anywhere near the power of an actual one, and you can make a passive interaction of the chuubanite be to increase the likelihood of lightning storms in the areas where it is most prevalent (see /morig/ for an example, usually it only really has an effect in it's nation, but we typically explain it as a mini-matter vs antimatter sort of situation, and the nation just happens to coincide with it. see some of the more "quantum mechanics"-like side of chuubanite) and if the region already has a high likelihood of thunderstorms, you can have systems for controlling where lightning strikes, but each of these options will have different weaknesses to work around. luckily, most of them rely on different properties of chuubanite, so you might be able to have all of them function from the same chuubanite, you'd just need to find a way to make it work. for instance, climate is a chaotic system, so dramatic changes can occur seemingly from nowhere.
you can't change the weather in an instant, but you can have chuubanite that makes an area's climate somewhere between 3 or so different possible states (the weather would allow for 3 states, normal, rainstorm, and thunderstorm, lets say, and very small changes in the climate can decide which of those 3 states will be dominant, most likely humidity and charge) so all you need to do is make it so that the effect of a certain chuubanite is to force the climate into one of those 3 states (ie, adding humidity gives dominance to rain/thunder storms, and adding charge gives dominance to thunderstorms/normal) and you could have glyphs that cause things to have a strong negative or positive charge that would allow you to control where the lightning strikes. then maybe you make it so that the chuubanite has a activator substance in the form of water that will create a compact mini-cloud with a strong electrical charge that will slowly dissipate into the wind that allows you to make use of it on a small scale, or outside of the regions that have an abundance of it. the key is that it was already like that before you tried to use the chuubanite to control aspects of it, as a result, you can't really use it elsewhere. if you can control the weather of another nation, you can basically create artificial natural disasters, which would absolutely be a wmd, but having that kind of power over your own area is perfectly fine.

now that i'm thinking about it, i have a better idea for the mini thunderstorm. chuubanite that naturally comes in the form of water, but that, in the presence of oxygen, creates a strong magnetic field that can absorb nearby energy to 1) heat up the water, turning it into steam, and 2) electrically charge the steam cloud. now imagine i have a pot with a lid on it, and whenever i open the lid, a magnetically contained steam cloud quickly comes out. then, with a staff of some kind with maybe a contained version of the chuubanite on the end (or really, anything else with a magnetic charge i guess), i can direct both the cloud and the electric charge, allowing me to smite someone by touching the end of the staff to them, but it will also strike things passively. the cloud can only exist for so long before it dissipates, either from wind or when the chuubanite runs out, but it exists much longer due to the magnetic field keeping everything together, powered by the chuubanite.
perhaps there could be a way to gather it back before it fully dissipates by bringing the cloud to an area without any oxygen, likely involving very strong magnets and some kind of vacuum, but it might be difficult, especially since water is part oxygen, and electricity can be used to separate that bond, thus causing the chuubanite to produce it's own activator substance, likely releasing energy in a self-perpetuating cycle until it either dissipates, or loses enough energy to keep itself going, sort of like a chemical version of critical mass. the stronger the magnetic field it generates, the more energy will be trapped, the more chemical reactions, the stronger the magnetic field, the more self-sustaining the cloud will be, the more self-perpetuating the cloud will be, the more difficult it will be to halt the reaction. interesting dynamic. make it too weak and it dissipates too soon. make it too powerful and it will have a strong, lasting effect, but it can't be contained before it finishes. make it powerful, but not too powerful, and it might not be all that strong, but you can more efficiently store what you have of it before it dissipates after you are done using it.
if you have better technology, you can make the pot a superconductor with a rmf generator, and you can make the pot magnetically repulsive if you want to expel the cloud, and magnetically attractive if you want to contain the cloud, then it can keep the chuubanite in while trying to create a vacuum by getting rid of all of the non-magnetic air. lets say the staff has a rechargeable battery in it, and circuits through the handle connecting to the tip where the contained chuubanite is, and some mechanism that will change which current is functional, allowing you to either generate or store electricity from the tip. that way you can add more energy to the cloud if you want to use it, and remove energy from the cloud when you want to store it, reducing the likelihood of the self-perpetuating chemical reaction, and making a sort of radiant electricity machine like what tesla wanted, but that never produced enough energy to be viable as a technology.
of course, now that i think of it, i might be retarded. if the magnetic field is sustained by oxygen coming into contact with what is essentially a kind of water, then whose to say it would ever not be activated, and if each interaction strengthens the magnetic field, then the magnetic field would be strengthening and weakening on it's own, so there would never be a situation where the magnetic field would be so strong that the cloud would last until it was dissipated naturally without the ability to halt or contain the cloud at any stage, it just means there is a minimum to the amount of it you would lose every time you used it, even under perfect conditions. if it's a good idea, people will take it and refine it to be more realistic, i would hope.

depending on how you do it, it might not require even that much. keep in mind that the weather is volatile, but ultimately pretty simple compared to other chaotic systems, so as long as things don't get in your way, you can have a lot of influence over it if conditions allow for it. holy sites might play a role in making sure the local atmosphere is under the right conditions. /morig/ gets it's chuubanite to change the climate via mostly natural processes, but if you have chuubanite that wouldn't otherwise do that, you can have certain locations that take up that role. as for doing it a few times a year, i'd say that 1) you'd probably only need to do it a few times a year, and 2) it depends on how much chuubanite you already have. if it's in low supply, you obviously will have a hard time doing it all that much, so if you really want to restrict the amount of times it can be used, that would be a good way of doing it. if it only effects your own region, i wouldn't call it unbalanced, and there are simple ways to make it work, so it shouldn't be too difficult to do it whenever you want as long as you have the right resources.
>being a collection of ToT unleashed
so do you want it to be a natural process that reflects those kinds of posters irl, or do you want people to be like that in universe, and for that to be an element of some kind of ritual to call forth rain from the heavens or whatever. either could work, maybe it would be the chuubanite-infused tears of those kinds of people that is used for >>39436410 instead of oxygen or water or whatever. ultimately, we can make this kind of interaction in a few ways depending on how you want to represent it, as long as the necessary conditions, as defined by the mechanics of the system, are sufficiently met.

Moonman, I will lay out some things for you so that you can have Tupai in your plans. They will be from my jurisdiction the south for now since the rest is still organizing but I will give you the South's (aka Joyo Cahya's pov)

>Slavery and the Raids were just part of a great systematic problem. Tribes, largely flips or ayundites, but MAYBE other Risuners sold others into slavery. His outrage has always been more against the system that allowed this to happen rather than the slavers themselves or even those such as yourself who own Risuner slaves. This sound bizarre to some, but the whole issue for him is that this ceases to be a real problem when you remove the tribal system to him. And it has worked in the South. There is a great deal of irony here, but I would argue that a good portion of the slaver tribes were Southerners so he probably has a different POV because of this.
>Joyo Cahya is also a pragmatist (for the most part) diplomatically and would see establishing good relations with the other nations of the ID pantheon as a good thing given the shared faith would build common ties and that I am playing thread meta that we like HoloID.
>There would absolutely under no circumstances be any diplomatic incident generated from this and Joyo Cahya himself would likely attend the games for both PR purposes and for diplomatic purposes. This man is ultimately "wiser than your average squirrel" when it comes to these sorts of things and in all honesty, likely already knows the situation. I can easily think him not even mentioning it at all, but rather potentially being more outraged at verbal abuse thrown not at the slavesuners, but his own boys. It's not his mission to liberate anyone (I am leaning towards him being apathetic since as he has gotten old, some of the more idealistic feelings of him die out.) but these games serve as a prestige moment for his nation and himself.

Tl;Dr, Invite the South you muppet.

there are two aspects of chuubanite, one that operates kind of like nuclear physics, the other that operates more like quantum mechanics, but relies on a logic that is similar to computer science. you can have more mystical seeming effects by treating the heavenly realm as a realm of pure conceptual energy, and then forcefully creating and maintaining an idea in that realm, with glyphs being the primary method of communicating/programming to this metaphorical quantum computer. when it involves that aspect of our magic system, it requires a lot more complexity to be able to make use of any of it, and a considerable amount of redundancy and ideally absolute precision is highly encouraged. it is also important to regulate it due to the sheer amount of power you could potentially gain from it, but luckily the mechanics required to make use of it at all are typically sufficient to justify any kind of power, and adaptable enough to allow for a higher (though rarely lower) tier of difficulty. when you aren't making use of the heavenly realm concept stuff and are just defining the typical interactions of chuubanite, it is a lot easier to make use of, and a lot easier to balance generally.
>desert maintained by the use of Rain shamans (not all desert.)
that might be a bit harder. deserts rain from time to time, and oases do form, but i don't personally know enough about how they form to tell you if and how you can make them with chuubanite, it might be more complicated than what you could do with just one kind of chuubanite, but that depends on how it works. climatebro, are you around? can you give us a short explanation of how oases work and what conditions are necessary for them to form?

Not exactly. Chuubanite magic is objective. You need to tell the magic realm precisely the instructions you want. Subjective matter such as symbolisms, cultural specific taboos, metaphors will result in syntax error. Just write "Condense rain cloud in this location" in your magic symbols.

The aspect here about the soil is this ability over time can turn a land into a grassland with steady upkeep. so, the heavenly realm stuff only effects the heavenly realm, ie concepts and chuubanite. Attempting to digest PG's raw data

>you can't change the weather in an instant, but you can have chuubanite that makes an area's climate somewhere between 3 or so different possible states (the weather would allow for 3 states, normal, rainstorm, and thunderstorm, lets say, and very small changes in the climate can decide which of those 3 states will be dominant, most likely humidity and charge)
Chuubanite magic does not forcibly change nature and physics; an instant weather change is not possible. What is possible is to alter the conditions that will give way to the desired weather you want. Such as altering the local humidity, air pressure, air charges, and wind direction.

>so all you need to do is make it so that the effect of a certain chuubanite is to force the climate into one of those 3 states (ie, adding humidity gives dominance to rain/thunder storms, and adding charge gives dominance to thunderstorms/normal) and you could have glyphs that cause things to have a strong negative or positive charge that would allow you to control where the lightning strikes.
You can alter the conditions of a region into giving way for a thunderstorm to spawn. Using extreme humidity control and pressure alterations as the seeds. Then use chuubanite glyphs to send instructions on where do you want the positive/negative charges to be for a lightning strike to occur.

>then maybe you make it so that the chuubanite has a activator substance in the form of water that will create a compact mini-cloud with a strong electrical charge that will slowly dissipate into the wind that allows you to make use of it on a small scale, or outside of the regions that have an abundance of it. the key is that it was already like that before you tried to use the chuubanite to control aspects of it, as a result, you can't really use it elsewhere. if you can control the weather of another nation, you can basically create artificial natural disasters, which would absolutely be a wmd, but having that kind of power over your own area is perfectly fine.
A way of controlling the weather of foreign lands is to seed the air/atmosphere with water-soluble/activated chuubanite. That way the clouds are filled with magic that you can send instructions to using glyphs. A perfect way of using this is create a compact cloud with strong charges as an activator seed and have it infect the local atmosphere elsewhere. Allowing you to temporarily control the weather over that region.

I sense I am summoned, so hello.
Regarding oases, they are basically outcrops of groundwater flows that extrude from the surface, usually in the form of underground rivers being elevated by the terrain. The water ultimately comes from the sky (as most non-ice freshwater sources are), so theoretically magic that can manipulate rainfall patterns could replenish the aquifers would be able to raise the water table and create/maintain oases across the land.
As for transforming deserts into vegetated land, you will want to have some ways to keep the land somewhat wet throughout the year, as that is necessary for grass to cover the surface and keep it from getting too hot (it is a positive feedback loop that likely led to the end of the Sahara green period). It is something that can be maintained through land keeping, but you will still need a certain amount of water in the system (and/or means to keep evaporation low) for grass to keep growing. In (eastern) fertile crescent, this is helped by the Tigris and the Euphrates which also helped introducing organic matter and silts from the Anatonian highland as sand is pretty bad at keeping water within itself.
I think /ehe~/ does have a similar enough hydrology that can be used for that purpose (see the coastal Levant for a RL example), especially if it is enhanced through supernatural means. Having arid biomes further away would also help the development of drought-resistant plants that can help the initial development of local civilisations.

ya, pretty much. didn't me and /meat/bro talk about this some time ago? the whole conceptual realm pretty much operates like a computer. the problem is that it takes a lot to make a concept mean something. you can't just draw a picture and say it means something, you have to figure out a way to make an artificial glyph synonymous with what it's supposed to represent, which is different for every concept you could think of representing. there can't be any ambiguity, which is why it requires a high amount of redundancy.

Well, barring direct manipulation of rainfall patterns, the most likely option would be water from the mountains (both overground as rivers or underground as aquifers). If /ehe~/ is into spec bio then they could also help reduce soil water loss and/or draw water from deeper aquifers. In the south, aquifer might also spread from the wetter /mhm/ which can be exploited as well (as in that period the idea of aquifers likely were not well-understood enough to cause diplomatic tension with tricks like that).

Possibly given that /ehe~/'s chuubanite effect is related to water manipulation. (or everywhere else gets their own portal to the catalog, in which case chuubanite is a renewable resource i guess) what are the conditions that have to be met for any given area to get a portal like this? what are the limitations? is there a way to encourage or discourage, or maybe even create or destroy portals anywhere you want? could it be thought of in the same way as catalognaughts? could it perhaps even be the same thing as catalognaughts, given the similarities? what ruleset should we use when thinking about this stuff?

>what are the conditions that have to be met for any given area to get a portal like this?
My proposal is that any major catalog-wide incident would create these 'scars'. From graduations to drama. Most importantly, incidents that result in massive numbers of posters, traffic, and chaos.
Maybe the 'Cold Hole' is also one example? Caused by the reveal of /mans/ and sending the board into a frenzy. The result of all those emotions and warping of the local noosphere.
/clg/-/aeg/ should have their own recently thanks to the Vera Vee fiasco.
/nenmen/ have one recently with the death of Yugo.

>what are the limitations? is there a way to encourage or discourage, or maybe even create or destroy portals anywhere you want?
Perhaps not EVERY yab results in such scars. Maybe it has to be a unique one-of-a-kind scenario. If every major yab incident creates a scar, then the Holo demography would have a monopoly of yab scars. /ggg/ would spawn one weekly from the constant 'no stream' drama.
Have not thought about destroying such phenomenon. Maybe it is possible. But I need the opinions of others.

>could it be thought of in the same way as catalognaughts? could it perhaps even be the same thing as catalognaughts, given the similarities?
Perhaps it is. Both are vomiting out substances from the Catalog.
The differences is that these 'scars' are also portals. Able to vomit out physical items that were sent to the Catalog that matches the concept.
The Corpse of Monoe derives from the magnet concept, attracts metal sent to the Catalog.
The huge reservoir of hopium under /mans/ is due to Mag having hopium in his lore.
Whatever scar in /RuMiNa/ should in theory spit out bones.

>what ruleset should we use when thinking about this stuff?
It's a train of thought at the moment. Until more feedbacks and additions are given this idea is up in the air.

>Maybe it has to be a unique one-of-a-kind scenario
has there ever been a yab like the stapler incident? just asking. desu, i think, at the very least, the power of the portal should decrease as the yab gets less coverage. with that said, it might be a bad idea to completely stop it if it becomes an important factor in a certain nation's lore. now we can argue that bait threads can have an influence on this setting. with that said, we definitely need more rules to limit how prevalent this kind of thing is. we can think about it later i suppose.
