Are there really that many content creators that have over 1 million subs and still make good content though?
All I can think of are those documentary/educational channels or music channels that release slow-drip high production value content you would've had to buy at a video store 20 years ago.
The ones that operate as modern content creators all become extremely cringey in an effort to maximize growth/engagement once they reach a certain point of success that can't be exceeded without abusing the algorithm.

I think NijiEN will be happy to achieve 200k subs in a year and they're currently on pace to achieve that in like 2-3 months. Beyond that a large fraction of your subs become dead subs and no longer matter beyond feeding your narcissism and numberfagging.

Also tons of subs and watchers can bury a vtuber in an unbelievably big mountain of garbage viewers. Interacting with the streamer aside, it's also hard to interact with other fans while the stream is going. Of course, it's more unselfish to wish that the streamer does really well and rockets to the moon in popularity, but a steady incline helps keep it a lot more enjoyable if you are a long time viewer, or even someone that just stumbles upon the streamer later. I think people are too worried that if they don't get HoloEN like numbers that they are considered failures, but all of them are really doing pretty well.
