When she applied for HoloEN, she had 0 streaming and content creation experience. So, it really wasn't too surprising that she was rejected (although she did make it past the first round). But, she didn't let it put her down, and instead worked to debut as an indie, and build up her streaming experience and content creation skills.
I'm sure if she applied for HoloEN Gen2, she would have gotten in, but she's openly been more of a Nijisanji fan, so it's no surprise she applied and got accepted to NijiEN.

Her powerlevel seems to be far bigger than any of the HoloENs'. Kiara is mostly about idolshit and Mori likes anime but isn't a serious otaku over it whatsoever, and is far more about her stupid J-rap scene. Ina may be comparable but really doesn't seem quite as hardcore as Pomu.

It actually is a bit disturbing contemplating someone like Ame or Gura who have probably like 1/100th of Pomu's tier of expertise got in. I think just having a ridiculously good voice skips you to the front of th eline; Cover must have simply heard them talking (or heard Ame hiccup in her interview) and thought "uuuup that's it, that's the one" sort of like how they actively scouted both Noel and Mel just on hearing their cute voices.

Pomu's voice is good, but not like heart-melting cute good, so that may be what they weren't hot on. I think the rest of her compensates for that though, imagine if she was one of the ENs instead of Kiara. She's also an idolfag but has none of the instantly-obnoxious shit about her Kiara does; it would have been a huge improvement.

To be completely honest, she needed a bit of refinement. If you watch her first streams from her past life, it was clear she had a ton of potential but she was still very rough around the edges.

I really love her as Pomu because it really feels like she's hit her stride. In her past life, even though she was great it still always felt like a temporary thing; like she was waiting for something bigger; maybe holding back a little bit because she didn't want to say anything too yabai for fear of messing up future endeavors. Now that she's joined Nijisanji it feels like she can cut loose a bit more. She's more herself than ever and it's glorious.

Shame that the model is a downgrade though. Feels like she traded out a Ferrari for a Volvo.

As someone who's used /a/ since the mid 00s and /jp/ since the day it was born Pomu has a lot, lot more things about her taste I just really like. She's outright a moefag, likes Aikatsu etc she is very very distinguished from the fucking basic bitch tastes of someone like Elira. It's not like it's wrong or heinous to be like Elira - it isn't. Like others said, it's less that they're unique personalities and more the content they can produce. Nijisanji's managing is way less on the nose than Hololive and it should start showing in the next month when the girls gain confidence and go for progressively weirder stream ideas, also they can collab with ID and some of the KR branch... maybe even some of the JPs and that's an opportunity to introduce the general audience like me to others in the same company.
Also and this is a personal preference, the fish seems super cute in a small kid kind of way, and following a vtuber from the very start of their career until they become powerhouses on their own has been something I always wanted to do but couldn't. I have complete faith Finland will see huge improvements as time goes and I'm excited for it, you could say I'm sort of idolfagging I guess.
