Hololive does the idol thing, where you're expected to pick one girl as your absolute favorite. Because we're on the internet, people get weirdly defensive of their choice and bash all the others that are potential threats to their oshi, with the possible exception of other girls that frequently align with their girl of choice (with some exceptions, such as how everybody hates Mori regardless of how much she collabs with their oshi.)

tl;dr: Most hololive fans like exactly one vtuber, not vtubing as a whole.

That's just what happens when a fanbase is flooded with tourists. Most Holofags on 4chan didn't stumble into vtubers in general until 2020 and by then the vtuber thread on /jp/ had already been completely colonized by /v/ermin crossposters and other randoms by the end of 2019.
