Xyz and link summons are pretty easy to grasp and only links are really broken. Because when links were released Konami conceptualized them as a nerf to the game by requiring you to summon all extra deck monsters to zones link monsters point to. They wanted links to slow the game down due to the extra deck power creep.

Then players complained and they had to rescind that rule so all those previously "balanced" link monsters are busted when you can swarm the field with synchros and fusions and xyz in the same turn.
