If you're being realistic about it, one person can't save everyone anyway. But there are things that one person can do to make things better for another person. It's never bad to check people out and see if you enjoy their content for a while. And if you like their stuff, tell them and they'll appreciate it, I'm sure. Or even tell them you appreciate their effort. Yeah, it can be hard to watch someone work hard and not get any results, but that can happen in professions anywhere.

Sometimes all it need is for just a single person to tell you they like your stuff for you to feel as if all your work hasn't been for naught. It's honestly not different at all from YouTube content creators or non-vtubers in general. The only difference is that you feel pity for vtubers is because you care for them as a whole since they suit your interests. Some do it for fun, some do it to make it big, some just do it out of curiosity or even practice. It's a very human thing to experience, like wondering how someone is doing from the window of a vehicle as they walk by, how their day is doing, if everything is alright with them. Vtubers are much of the same, except they have the added caveat of the facial barrier that separates the "real" them from you. It's a fantasy to believe in.

If you were truly cared, you'd enable their fantasy too by supporting them. Instead of turning on another Amelia or Gura stream, or even an Iofi or Anya stream, go out of your comfort zone and start looking for low view vtubers. Engage with them, cheer them on. Make them redouble their efforts and hone their craft by simply being there. The effect of your support on them is immense, because it means they aren't shouting in the void, hoping to be recognized. An actor, all alone on a stage, may tell themselves it's practice for a big day and that one day, there will be an audience. If you feel as if they deserve your attention, then be that audience. But like acting, not all vtubers are cut out for the job. Think of all those supposed vtubers on Twitter who have been tweeting for months with not one stream. Even those who streamed with a basic .png or a scuffed L2D has done far, far more than that group ever has. That, in and of itself, is admirable, no matter how skilled or unskilled they are at the task at hand. The best success one can find in life is not for recognition alone, but to stay true to oneself and pursue one's passions to the best of their abilities, to not go astray from whatever goal they've set forth, and to see it through to the sweet or bitter end.

This thread is depressing as fuck but would make for an amazing wake up call for the wannabe/startup vtubers who post here. I've had the delusions myself sometimes because the Holos (and especially ENs) make it look so easy since many of them came from nothing, but they're the tiny minority. Most won't make it and will spend years with double digit viewers at best. Vtubers are already an oversaturated market, unless you're fucking amazing and have a great rig or do something interesting that sets you apart from the rest you're going to be one of those nobodies.

That's extremely naive and uninformed.

Many, if not the overwhelming majority of them have been streaming for years, either as uitate or regular streamers - in certain cases with careers spanning over a decade. Some still have their other ventures out there - others followed the Japanese tradition of periodically wiping their accounts and restarting anew.

Some who were not streaming were in the business of creating content and entertainment and already had the discipline and dilligence required, needing some direction that management could give and promotion that a corporation can offer.

For some Hololive was a last-ditch effort (Sora, Suisei) even when they were corporate (Miko), and yet Hololive JP had shit viewership for quite a while.

Where the girls are actually able to gain a good amount of traction and possibly even be able to become something of very well known because of said popular artist, as well as being entertaining, but they're in some company that fucks them so hard and constantly that they're practically obscure, to the point it's as if they're actively sabotaging the said girls. Having over 10k subs and gaining good amount but only able to have about 100 viewers at max every stream due to always having to guerrilla stream, no schedules posted despite being "managed", all their video being unlisted for god knows what reasons, and their said company being just so absolutely, utter shit that one of their talent whose entire character is supposed to be happy and energetic got depressed and nearly cried on stream due to thinking that she's a failure for not being monetized when she was long suppose to and with none of them being promoted in anyway despite desperately needed, especially one girl who don't have the advantage of said popular artist and is lagging behind by a huge, huge margin.
Which do you think is worse?

Hundreds enter a super market each day.
The first area usually has all the vegetables and fruits.
Sometimes you get the situation where only one pack of apples, salad or others remains. Hundreds will go past that package and ignore it assuming there is something wrong with it - Because its the last one lying around.

It kinda works similar with streamers. If nobody is watching the stream one might assume that there is something wrong with it. Maybe the streamer isn't good - Maybe the content isn't appealing - Or the quality of the stream is bad. Thousands of people can see a stream with only 5-10 viewers and its highly unlikely that out of those thousands many will try out the stream.

Rummy and Coqui's characters are that they're (the only) members of a street gang that hangs out in a local arcade a lot. They have great models with a wide variety of expressions and great rigging. They also feature Krimbo, the purple lipped bara guy you've probably seen posted around, as the guy that owns their arcade. They started on youtube but have slowly transitioned over to Twitch so they can do twitch raids and more easily hang with other vtubers. They average between 30 - 50 viewers last I checked and have over 1k youtube subs.

Rummy on the left is massively debuffed by having an extremely weak PC that can barely run her model and any sort of game at the same time. Often she'll have to greatly reduce the resolution of her model or turn off its tracking completely and go static. Her personality is pretty abrasive and she's open talking about all sorts of odd things like her plans to get her tubes tied. She became a vtuber because Coqui wanted her to and she's pretty blasé about it all.

Coqui on the right is an absolute sweetheart and is very motivated and dedicated to vtubing. She does a lot of collabing with others and has a functioning computer, though she primarily streams ps1 era games. She's a big dork that cares more about having fun vtubing than growth or fame. She's the one that organizes everything between the two of them and seems to be the one bankrolling their stuff.

I used to be super into them but lost interest over time, though I still follower Coqui on twitter. One of my main reasons was the transition to twitch. I don't have anything against twitch but I primarily watch my tubers on youtube.

Here's a random Coqui clip.
