Let's talking about live2D rigging for vtubers and other rigging related stuff.

>> No.3477670

I'm unironically interested in live2d rigging now. Is it just as hard as 3D rigging? How much do you get paid to do it for small indies? Do you need to be a drawfag to even consider it?

I bet this guy actually charges premium rates.

By the way, I'm 99% certain the models need the talent's approval before being greenlit because we've already heard them talk about how much input they have. I can understand this happening once, but to 4 different girls? (5 if we count Korone's shitty birthday cake)

So either they're getting scammed hard or the girls simply can't tell a shitty rig from a good one.

You don't even need drawfag knowledge for L2D rigging except for basic understanding of perspective (if you watch a lot of anime, you will know what looks good and what doesn't).

The Live2D model is a collection of separate parts that you attach together on layers and deform as you need. The way it was done >>3487055 was crude but understandable. Hell, you could rig up the equivalent of an L2D using 3D modeling software like Blender because L2D and 3D modeling operate on the same principles. Supposing that L2D's motion capture and physics animation are manually animated (I don't know since I don't know much about L2D beyond the stuff that I've read on it on the page), you could in theory automate the whole process in Blender since it has physics baked in.

The goal is to make Cover understand that it's not just a few people who are upset with this but many. It should ensure that this won't just get a band-aid fix but that the rigger is permanently let go. Perhaps it will even cause Cover to treat the chuubas better although that's wishful thinking.

>2. Harass everyone who defends the rigger on twitter
The goal is to not let the "vocal minority sending death threats" narrative take root. The white knights need to get BTFO wherever they pop up.

>3. Bring up on social media how unfair it is that the other 4 got 10/10 models while she's stuck with this piece of shit, whenever the other 4's models are mentioned
This will ensure that the drama won't "blow over" and stays UNTIL the problem is fixed.

>4. SC Kiara about it because Kiara has no issue openly shitting on Cover and raising a stink
WORST case scenario, a few viewers who don't browse social media will learn of the problem and we will have an actual hololive member representing our case. To be fair most vtuber hands are janky, even the ones done by supposedly good riggers like Coco's 2.0 model (Keffy). There's not alot of use cases for having hands pop up so most riggers don't bother and the ones who do add it as an afterthought.

Shitty ms paint mockup, but it should look something like this. The polygons should follow the lines of the skirt, instead of being applied over the fucking lines. The way he did it is akin to carpeting over the hinges of a door.

What's the problem? I might be selectively blind so I'd appreciate knowing exactly what to look for.

Next to the other girls it looks a thousand times worse

Here is the worst thing, at least one of the new girls for gen 2 will have this rigger, and will have as bad if not worse rig than Gura

>> No.3546042

Going by the current pattern of both JP and EN the worst rig of a gen over compensates and become more successful, so its actually a big brain move

Ame briefly touched on the designing part at the end of her reveal stream.

Girls have input into the initial design, not the completed rig. What the fuck do you think, Cover gives them the rig and they have an option to decline? They all have debut deadlines set, anon. They only ever delay shit if the rig is just not done at all. Gura said that even her original model came in the last minute, literally days before her debut. These outfits seem to be similarly rushed, half of the planned features are missing, like Mori's removable jacket and Ina's butt wings and other accessories. I don't think the girls can do anything about the finished product.
