Look at this way. Lamy and Nene are both getting a shit ton of Money for Hololive. They are Gen 5 btw. Botan gets the views and Polka gets the variety and sponsorships. They are Gen5. Gen 4 has Watame, Coco and Kanata. Gen 3 has all of them as SC and Sponsorship magnets. Gen 2 has all performing well except for Choco. Gamers have all except for Mio. Gen 1 and Gen 0 have Haachama, Suisei amd Miko. The rest fills in the gap. If they stopped at Gen 3 since at that point already had 22 girls they wouldn't have Gen4 which means they wouldn't have Asacoco which undoubtedly triggered the whole Global phase for vtubers.
It's not about eating fans. It's about expanding the fanbase to a further market. For sure the new girls will fill in the gaps the current streams don't cater.

It will never happen, or she has to be CRAZY evil or have CRAZY SUPPORT for that to happen. She has too many chains right now. I'm just pointing out the fact that having a new gen of vtubers isn't bad. It's supposed to open a new type of audience and lure them into hololive. That is why Hololive is so good in promotions, because their girls do their own best to promote and uplift each other. That is the whole point of HoloEN anyway. A lot of people that noticed gura were new people that was never aware about vtubers. That's why we have a gateway chuubas like Fubuki. Gura is the normie gateway. Kiara is the eu gateway. Amelia for some reason is a latin gateway and Botan is the russian gateway. The new EN i hope would have a Subaru or a Mio as far as creating variety content. Not so much in games. Maybe an esport fanatic that would actually play competitive games rather platform games and rage quit. It's always nice to see a cute girl try her hardest like Aqua.
