I think the answer is more simple. Digi made that form and was the only one who really understood the way it was put together. That's why he was able to make new assets for Melody and why few other people have successfully done it. This is also why Melody is transitioning away from the coding Digi used into something else entirely. Mel is unwilling to use many of the assets Digi made for her even tho she apparently owns them, including the T0Ms, because she doesn't want any ties to him anymore, period. This is also one reason why we didn't have Twin-tailed Mel for a long time either, and why she made a return the other day. The new codes are coming into place and now she can be worked on again without needing Digi. To wit, there's a reason YFU continues to get assets made for her. Despite her and the company she works for's insistence that Digi is not involved anymore, she still seems to get new things. Shocking that they would lie so brazenly, but whatever.

That's not how 3D modelsworks. To be honest, I've got minimal experience and I'd likely know just about everything from the model by looking at it, as would anyone else with more experience than me. I doubt her model is much of a mystery at all considering it's just a 3D model in a fairly simply Unity or UE environment that has a few cameras and object toggles. It'd be nothing to hire someone to do things that would really spice things up which is why I just assumed they weren't interested in spending any real money.

I can't really speak on the YFU thing, but it's not exactly hard to find a 3D modeler to work on assets, especially with the professional contacts they've got available.

Honestly as much as I'd like to believe it, what I know of 3D modeling just makes this feel like petty BS, or a lack of knowledge altogether. A 3D model is a 3D model, period.

I'm 99% sure she's got a few meshes to hold all her clothing and attached items all on to one item, and then a few scripts to enable and disable them and then whatever scripts move the camera and spawn items. It just comes across as being really cheap on management's end. Even Miko was able to do this solo and runs a similar setup, just more for comedic purposes.

I think Mel or her management is just selling excuses to be frank. They could've had most of the issues fixed the month after the Digi shit went down. Lord knows they have the money.

Miko is different, tho. She is doing her own stuff based on an Unreal Engine and part of her whole thing is marketing what she has done to a potential buyer. None of that is a secret. Miko, therefore, has an incentive to keep improving her own work.

Mel is apparently Unity (I looked that up), or at least her environment is, and they had a model they were going to use but it was primitive by comparison. Remember we're talking over a year ago. The advancements that have been made to vtubing and / or 3D environment programming have improved significantly. What Melody was doing over a year ago was cutting edge shit, now it's less so.

Either way, I think the reason(s) they didn't immediately move on to another programmer was legally related. They wanted to make sure Digi wasn't going to be a prick again, and probably tried to explore a number of legal options to keep it that way, probably because they wanted to keep using old assets if they could. When that didn't pan out, they had to find another programmer, and they didn't just want some chump (that's why they went to Digi in the first place), so they scouted and auditioned people or teams to replace him and only now months later are we getting the changes implemented. This has been a lengthy process to be sure, and a lot of it has been tied to legal bologna.

I think what you'll find with any vtuber is that there are a relatively small number of people who actively donate and simp and the rest just come for free content. Probably, I would say, about 10% of the live viewers will donate anything. They also get into weird competitions with each other over who is a bigger simp. Like, someone will donate 100 subs and, naturally, Melody will comment on it and thank the person for it, and then another simp does the same thing and it gets out of control. This happens to Mel a lot.

There are also some clearly coordinated simpery efforts for certain streamers. Nyanners gets them once in a while (just a horde of simpery all at once), Silvervale gets them often enough. Mousey and Zentreya generally have consistent small donos the whole time either in the form of direct donations or the sound effects. Shit, yesterday while playing REVillage, Mousey made close to $200 just in the "screamer" and "jumpscare" noise effects. Sometimes it is just simpery and sometimes it is people just 'avin' a giggle.

If you're not feeling negative about it either from your own feelings of inadequacy (IE you think you HAVE to do this but can't and feel down) or just in the disruptive nature of simps to the streaming content (I hear this a lot, too), then you're sitting there thinking about the people who make those donations trying to figure them out in vain.

Take Zen for example. For the last week there has been one particular guy who has continually donated $100 (or more) several times during a stream. The first time, the message they sent with it was just "hello" and Zen basically asked them if that was all they were going to say after donating that much and later the guy sent another $100 donation with another short message. Eventually this rolled out of control and the guy was just donating $100 with one word messages or small inane shit and Zen had to take to ignoring the guy because she didn't want to promote it anymore (plus it drew copycats). Thankfully, the guy has chilled out a bit on that. It was good for a single stream luls, but it started to get a bit disturbing. You start wondering how much money this guy has. Is he rich? You hope so. Is he giving away his rent money? God you hope not. This kind of shit starts bothering the girls, too. They don't mind getting a huge donation with a nice story attached to it so they can get context that you, the donator, are okay and just showing appreciation with some spare money you had around, but they worry that their simps donate too much.

Anyway, simpery is generally positive in small amounts, even if it is a bit too frequent for some people's tastes, but when it gets out of control nobody really benefits, not even the streamer's mental health. I have seen some streamers (Silver has done this) return the donations if they start getting too much. Don't mindbreak the waifus with donations, simps!

Donators do though. It's statistically proven that not having those things lower the amount of money you get. Even huge 10k+ streamers still have subs and $5/500 bit donation TTS on. It was one of Nux's videos where he goes around to random streamers and has them do stuff on stream. In this case he was having streamers type "P" or "PO" into their browsers to see what their autofill browser history would come up with. He was obviously looking to embarrass folks into revealing their pornhub links (he also had the vtubers and anitubers do "nh" for nhentai). Anyway, he walked into Zentreya's stream at a really bad time. Nyanners was doing one of her high autisim moments where she was playing videos of people moaning and making other noises on YouTube videos and then also playing diarrhea and other shitting noise videos creating a cacophony of sounds that only Nyanners can truly appreciate. Then she raided Zen. Zen caught wind of what she was doing on stream from the raiders and decided to try looking for the videos Nyan was working with and also to annoy her chat with (because that's what she does). Nux came in while the diarrhea sounds video was going and was making comments on "how" this could be content, but at the same time saying it was strangely enjoyable. He then did his schtick to Zen but struck out because Zen's "PO" search history was mostly about Pokemon.

Anyway, whether Zen talked to Nux about not airing her stream is unknown, but it seemed that she wasn't really for him showing the earlier part with the diarrhea video. As a result, she has gotten quite a bit of flak on social media places for people thinking she's a literal "shit" streamer, because the internet is full of assholes.

The bigger smile makes the laugh look more natural, but I can see how that may compromise her other expressions to some extent. The problem with the Zen clip is that it didn't promote her at all. It did the exact opposite. Sure, a lot of people who viewed Nux's YouTube video saw her for the first time, but got a very incorrect impression. Which, is actually something they also don't like about clippers. They appreciate clippers because they do get exposure, but they are all aware, and just look around /vt/ for a while if you want to know what they mean, that those clips tend to make a very narrow and skewed perspective.

So, clippers are just kind of a necessary evil. Nux should know better than to put a clip that had nothing to do with what he was actually doing for his own content up like that. It just made Zentreya look bad.

aside from the Vtuber community being bad, i do think there is a problem with Vtuber agencies being lazy and choosing to put scantily clad characters/ jiggly boobs in their streams so they can use the sex appeal to attract viewers. I think it does alienate some viewers.
