Based, I'm glad I'm not the only one loving IX. I've played each and every game of the main series as well as a few here and there about the side series, but IX seems to be the most mature regarding its plot, and there is easily 300 hours of content at min with the treasure maps.
At least in that game they don't bait you into making you think a character would be permanently dead, just to then making it revive later on as if it was natural.

I haven't tried IX as the others so I can't say much about it, but you could do it like Pekora and start with V as is one of the strongest mainline games. Or if you're a masochist, start with the first one (I had a DW cartridge as a child and couldn't understand shit because I wasn't even ESL). Rocket Slime is also a fun and cute spinoff.

I have yet to finish the third one though as I'm not playing it with the fan translation, and the Citra emulator makes it lag too much...
The only other DQ game I have finished more than once is the 11th, but he's far from being as good as the 9th.
