Ehhhhh, in the sense that it's easier to find a group I guess. Mechanics wise though, it's bloated and poorly made. Literally any other game would be better to start off with but, well, you take what you can get people for.

What 5e is actually good at is being playable even if only one player around the table knows the rules well, because the choices are easy/nonexistent and the one player that knows can just tell the other players what their options are/what to roll. Most other systems require some sort of investment from all players in either roleplay or mechanical aspects, but 5e you can play with someone who has literally never touched a roleplaying game without much trouble.

On that note I am so thankful they picked literally anything other than D&D just to let newcomers to the hobby know that other options exist and are cool to play.
