Early on Salome even had the highest chat overlap with Mito too.
Actually, with the exception of Salome, why does Niji in general have such low sub counts and sub growth. They even have huge events that get hundreds of thousands of views so the problem isn't that people don't know about them.

pretty simple, they didn't have a Coco-equivalent iconic EOP panderer in their JP branch (Oliver came after Lazulight debuted and Rine didn't stream much nor was she willing to pander. Hana Macchia was the closest such figure but she had a menhera moment from not wanting to be ahead of her ID branchmates who were languishing in <50k sub hell), and they failed to capitalize on the first-time buff on the EN market before holo did.
Despite holoEN having largely fell off in popularity, the attention they received during their massive boom ultimately directed publicity towards the entire company as a whole and the JPs and to some extent IDs, having better work ethic, have been very much willing to capitalize on this publicity and therefore skyrocket almost every member to frequent 5-digit CCVs and million subs.

Mito was absolutely massive when she first came on the scene, she was getting regular 20k+ ccv when every other vtuber couldn't even cross 10k on non-event streams. She had a meteoric subrise early on too, just her growth eventually stagnated because she's not as normie friendly as the other popular vtubers like Kuzuha and Pekora that followed in her wake, and she completely mined her audience (which she still keeps to this day btw, she still has a 10k+ monthly average ccv after 4 years)
