Brent Rambo Chapter II
Jungle sounds surround Brent

These bloody mosquitos are worse that the fuckin' Risuners! Brent thought as he traversed to the Northeast. He had been walking for 2 days now and had shot up Risuners multiple times when they tried to sneak up on him. One time when he was trying to get some rest, he found a Risuner woman trying to rape him, so he raped her instead before killing her. Fucking dumb bitch, I am the raper. Probably the best sex she ever had and she was tight as fuck. I'll be taken more of these whores as I go along if I catch them!

He stumbles into an upon grove and spots a small Risuner village in the trees in the distance. Those fuckers haven't spotted me yet, maybe I can get a jump on them and get some food. Brent sneaks up to the Village without making so much as a sound, he can here the Risuners laughing and having sex. Gotcha with your pants down, motherfuckers Quickly, Brent shoots his grappling hook up onto a tree next to the village and swings over onto a roof. But now he was spotted. Risuners screamed in horror as Brent came down guns ablazing. He breaks down the door of the biggest house he can find and finds himself a Risuner woman making dinner alone. "Oh no!" She screams in terror and puts her hands up. "Sit your pretty ass down honey, I ain't here to kill ya or eat ya. Just wanna have a nice little word with ya." she stops cooking as Brent sits down at her table pointing his M60 at her. She then sits down across from him and asks him "What do you want? Aren't you one of them cannibals! Were you the one killing everyone."

Brent lights up a cig, and laughs "Nah baby, I just wanted to say hi and your friends tried to kill me. Did it in self defense, nuthing more nuthing less. Now, I'll tell ya what I wanna do with ya. Get your pretty ass into the kitch'n and fix me up a meal for us." The Risuner does as he asks, she is utterly terrified but somehow turned out by this giant man who entered her house. She didn't have a husband and hadn't been satisfied by Risuner men in weeks. Maybe this killer would do the trick.

The smell of Rabbit stew rises, ah that's it, shit's good. Brent takes a look outside and none of the Risuners are even here anymore. Well, maybe I can get a goodsnight rest and some of that squirrel pussy tonight. Not like I will give her a choice hehe The Risuner woman comes out and brings the stew Smacks her on the ass "Smells fucking good, and your ass feels awful nice too." The Risuner blushes and says "Th-hank you". Brent starts chowing down on the rabbit stew. This is the good shit. "Hey, what's your name ya beautiful cunt, I'm Brent. Thank ya!"
"You're welcome, I am Claudia. I-its nice that you aren't going to eat my ass hehe."
"Nah, I'll eat your tight pussy though. Hows'd that sound to ya? I know you squirrels are horny fuckers and so I am."
"FUCK YES, Ah your cock must be massive. I haven't been pleased in a while."
"Heh, you can say it is. Bigger than any of these men you got around, they are fucking tiny fuckers aren't they."
"Y-Yeah..."
They both finished their stew and Claudia comes up to him seductively.
"Now it's time for sweet dessert baby girl, Cmere."

All night long the two fuck, and Brent sleeps until noon the next day. He finds the Risuner ready for more and gives her a goodbye fuck before he leaves again. When he walks outside of her house, the Risuners are shocked and run for their lives. Hahaha you fucking retards, Brent always win.
He then shoots his grappling hook into another tree and leaves catapults to the ground Good food, Good fucking, Great sleep. Hella of a night', now let's get the fuck outta here.

Brent Rambo Chapter III:

In the middle of the fucking Jungle again

Man, I'll tell ya what, I am getting sick of these motherfucking mosquitos. When I get to the Candy Kingdom, I am bringing a fucking flamethrower to burn all of this shit down. It was now two weeks of fighting, fucking and wandering across Risu to safety. These Risuners were absolutely terrified of Brent but as he came closer to the border, a plan was hatched to get back at him for killing them and raping their women.

Brent stopped at a stream 5km to the Towa border. He drank from the stream and sat down for a bit. Man, what a journey this has been. Doubt any of the fuckers in Lammington lived, but if I find any, I got quite the story to tell As he washed his face, war chants came from the woods. Ah, shit here we go again. These damn squirrels never know when to let up. Pulling out a rocket launcher, he fires it into the woods, blasting 3 Risuners to bits. He then throws some napalm grenades into woods as well, catching a good dozen Risuners on fire. He laughed as he saw the little squirrels running around like Chickens with their heads cut off. You fucking cucks Then he opened up with his machine gun "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND, MR M60." He starts laying down walking fire as the Risuners flee "COME BACK AND PLAY WITH ME YOU DUMB CUNTS!".

As soon as he said this, an arrow hit him the back. He pulled the thing out and turned around to see a good 50 Risuners firing at him. "You picked the wrong day to fuck with me." Using his jetpack, he flys up into the air and fire 3 RPGS into the crowd, dispersing them immediately, with dozens killed. But they kept coming and his ammo was running out. Ah, you fuckers don't know when to let up. Oh well, I will show you I am just as good with the blade as me missiles Taking out his bowie knife, he is running towards the border like a madman, scalping several Risuners along the way. He gets hit by more arrows but they were just flesh wounds.

One particular big Risuner stands on a bridge on the river standing in the way of freedom. The 'roided up squirrel looked more like a Sanalite than a Risuner, and around him were 10 other squirrels. The Giant laughs "You made a valiant fight, Sanalite but your path ends here. I will mount your head over my fireplace as my greatest prize I ever captured. Get him boys" Thinking quick, Brent starts throwing rocks flying at the Risuners, knocking them 3 of them out. He then dodges a spear attack by one Risuner which kills the one who snuck up behind him. He fires the remainer of his ammon into the last 6, killing them all before he throws his gun to the ground and approaches the Giant barehanded.

"HAHAHA, You think you can come at me, no? You Be-AHHHHH" Brent delivers a punch to his chin so hard it shatters his jaw instantly. Brent then grabs the Risuner looking like a madman and says, "Oh I think I can come at you alright you bugger, Now It's time to meet Mori ya dumb fucker" and pludges the knife into his chest. The Risuner lays on the side of the road coughing up blood as Brent lights up another cig and walks over into Towa. Mission Accomplished, now let's get to the Candy Kingdom

Think that should be it for this short story. Had to give a 20-cannon salute to Sanalites and since they didn't know what to do with me; took into my own hands. OG, if it makes you feel better you killed some sanalites yourself, but not Brent Rambo

>I feel like we are very much on the same page here even though we prefer to use different terminology and different interpretations
i see it as the same interpretation expressed in different terminology. i haven't found any notable differences, personally. with that said
>meaning that your Vitium-Strutcture-to-be could use an existing shape as its base, meaning that you need less energy to form that structure, and stabilize it.
i think i might disagree with this interpretation of it somewhat. the way i see it, it's like using chains to link a variety of ideas to each other. if the yab is weak, the chain links are weak, and the whole structure falls apart, so strengthening it is more a matter of decreasing the probability that they will return to being separate ideas. the only difference complex artificial structures would have to simple ones is that there are more links that could be shattered and cause the concept to fall apart. the strength of each link is determined by how much influence you can have on the conceptual realm, meaning it doesn't matter how closely connected two ideas are, if you form the structure during a time where the connection between the realms is weak, then the links will be weak as well.
also, glyphs are good for defining terms, but merely creating a glyph and saying it represents something is not enough to make it usable. you need to communicate it's meaning in a way the conceptual realm can understand, so contracts involving certain people would almost certainly involve the artificial concept of every individual party involved. for a person to be identified, their dna would probably be one of the many necessary components for it to make sense. think of it like trying to get an artificial intelligence to understand something. you need a lot of data, the more data the better, just to identify simple things like the difference between two completely separate images.

>Commander
Good question, since a Shogun is a Commander in Chief himself. I under that that neither Shogun is a traditional Shogun but rather the commander in chiefs of one half. I think you could have the Imperial Navy made as unified command with a good reason from history. Perhaps the Imperial Navy came about because of how the disorganized command of two at sea resulted in defeat after defeat against Watamelon and others. In this sense, the Imperial Navy is not under the command of either Shoguns, so you and emma can use it how you wish for stories. Also add this interesting idea of multiple admiralities, one in the West (not as in the Western Shogunate as much as Western Seas) and Eastern Admiralty. That would add the possibility of interesting doctrinal differences between, say the Eastern Fleet which fights phase and Western Fleet which fights ahoy and watamelons.

Imagine the east vs west rivalry in the fleet. And Emma can use it too so its no longer my fleet but also hers!!!!!!! Amazing. I can imagine the Eastern Fleet being more conservative in their tactics while West is more innovative. It mean I dont have to change much of my lore either and its balanced!!!! The Navy would get taxes from both sides so it would be expected to work for their interests. Interesting dynamic. what about the local fleets idea Emma had for coastal defense????

Depends on your economy. You might want to stick with the concept of using mercenaries for pretty much everything important at home and overseas. Or you can have some professional troops under the Shoguns and feudal levies. Up to you, its an economical thing because the navy will obviously get priority. (Heck thats a story, imagine the shoguns getting jealous and invading somewhere for this. Problem is this is vitubia.) the Shoguns could see having their own professional army as a way of keeping their power as well.

Alright, sounds like we have a plan then. Thanks again for your input! I know you said you're not really a writer, but if you ever feel like starting, I'd be happy to have you!

>You might already be planning this but it should be that only the soldiers are schizo briskadets and regular people are tradwife pipeline ones
There will be normal Briskadets too, but I wasn't going to split the schizoness by military vs civilian, since buying into the tradwife pipeline does not guarantee that an anon will be "normal" or vice versa. I recall a tradwife Kadet in /nijien/ who talked about mixing her blood into jam to feed her tulpa for example. Meanwhile, the Kadets in /nenmen/ are fairly calm posters, but a good number of them are also of the "I want taichou to beat me up and pull off my fingernails," variety. I was planning on a more general statement about Briskadets being especially prone to madness, and a good half the population being schizos. But they're OUR schizos, very well housetrained, pls no attack.

Kindred! Welcome back! I...still have not finished the Holy Kingdom doc, partially because I've been very preoccupied with IRL but partially just because my magpie brain is easily distracted. I did want to ask, do you think the Holy Kingdom would have any traditional jails etc? Since we previously discussed the idea of Kindred preferring to integrate criminals into harems, put them to work, and so on in efforts to "rehabilitate" them, I was thinking individual clans might have their own holding cells and the like, but there wouldn't be any proper institutions for it. Law is enforced by the church, and they likely have their own dungeons, but I imagine they would really only step in personally when handling sinners.

No worries at all! You do so much for everyone here so please don’t feel bad about not having the time for things yet/if at all because I know you’re busy!
As far as jails go, I can’t see anything all that “permanent” other than temporary holding cells where criminals are kept while awaiting their punishment, however long that may be. I also thought of the idea of them not really having proper trials where the culprit in question is allowed to go in and testify before a jury or anything, nor are they represented by anyone ie a lawyer— Church officials get their story while they’re detained in a holding cell and proceed from there. Not a whole lot of rights for criminals— no right to a fair trial or a trial at all, as “trials” consist of just a bunch of the clergy sitting and talking amongst themselves about an appropriate punishment… I like to imagine the idea of “innocent until proven guilty” doesn’t exist either, if you’re arrested then you’re arrested and that’s that. I always like the Holy Kingdom as an image of brutality and rigid structure, but maybe that’s just me!

Oh, yay! Let's take a look then.

>Tsukinode Empire
Having a compound word, especially one that's a proper noun, be read with the kun'yomi reading is whack. But I take it you just wanted to get "Tsukino" in there, so eh, it's acceptable. You can pretty much claim that kanji is read however you want anyways. My actual criticism here is that "Empire" shouldn't be in English. That just sounds strange. It should be either "Tsukino Teikoku" or, if you want to go very hard on the Japan-ness, "Tsukino Koukoku." Teikoku is the general Japanese word for empire, consisting of the characters for "emperor" and "nation," while koukoku is the word for specifically the Empire of Japan, using the character for "divine" instead of emperor.

>many gaijin and banzoku fail to realize its importance
Ah, I see you're going for a sort of superiority complex with the nation! This is kind of a weird mix of words here, "banzoku" is typically used to refer to specific barbarian tribes and not just "barbarians" in general. You'd want to use "yabanjin" instead, which have the "savage/uncivilized" meaning I think you were actually going for. "Gaijin" is also pretty neutral, which could be the intent, but if you instead wanted to really hammer in how much your Empire thinks outsiders are beneath them, I'd use "ijin" instead. It's an extremely derogatory way of referring to foreigners. Do not use it in real life.

>Shùzì
Literally number people...beautiful.

Looking good so far, aside from some typos. Keep it up! Have the two of you begun to put thought into how you will differentiate yourselves from one another?

>>31538425
My thoughts on the legal system were very similar to yours, so that sounds great!
>I always like the Holy Kingdom as an image of brutality and rigid structure
I agree! Due to their fanatical adherence to their faith, I've always imagined the Holy Kingdom as pretty totalitarian. The Kindred likely have this image of themselves as being benevolent and accepting, and it's one outsiders might wholeheartedly believe. To an extent, in the border towns where the Church's influence might not be as strong due to the higher ups holing up near Akuma Castle, it might even be true, but I figure the deeper in you go the more it turns it it's actually kind of a shitty place to live despite the citizens all insisting they're perfectly happy and everything is great. Does this sound about right to you?

No matter where you go, there're elements of cultlike personality as long as Kindred are around, huh? I love it. I agree with you when you say that the best place to live would be on the very outskirts of the Kingdom/border towns where the Church doesn't have as much influence or reach and people can live life peacefully without feeling like it's Literally 1984 and the Church Is Always Watching. Nickel just popped in that sentence because I think it's cool as fuck, but I agree, nickel alloys would be a bit anachronistic. One of the biggest reasons modern steels are stronger than older ones is because we got much better at removing defects and impurities from our billets. Even with the same nominal chemical composition, two pieces of steel can vary a lot in strength if one has a lot more defects (porosity, cracks, variations in carbon concentrations, laminations). I think perhaps /mhm/ could have fantastic alloys through having metallurgic processes that reduce the amount of defects and impurities extremely well, as opposed to using a different "recipe", which could be easily replicated by other nations.
And that's without getting into magic stuff, obviously.

Rather than looking at the industrial scale 18-19th century metal production and working it might be better to look at how some near and far east cultures handled metal production. For /mhm/ metalworking should be a focal point of society and culture, not just the output of it. To reach industrial scale of production you must have the demand or reason for it first.

You all are the sweetest, I’m grateful we can all be in this project together! I know I’ve been scarce lately but luckily I think I’m in a good position to be active here again. Comfyanon is genuinely one of the most helpful people ever— I don’t think I’ve ever seen him outright reject someone’s request for help, I’ve just seen him say he’ll get to it when he can— and provides great feedback. I think Alice is a really good morale support and moodmaker who always makes things fun when people are bitching about nothing again. Cutiegoon always greets people and asks how they’re doing which is just a sweet little way of making sure people feel noticed and Cunt is good at diffusing conflict and getting people to chill out. The other Kindred are very knowledgeable and think of things I never even thought of and they have really good perspectives.
I dunno. I’m up in my feelings tonight and I just think you’re all great, it makes me sad when people worry they’re not providing “enough” to the thread/project because everyone contributes.

Ah, retroanon, my friend -- you can be a bit cynical and blunt from time to time, but that's not always a bad thing. Sometimes it's good to have someone point out the worst possible outcome, and honesty is necessary for successful communication. Quite a few times I've seen you broach a subject it seemed other anons were simply too afraid to approach, despite how much it needed to be addressed. Just...work on your delivery a bit, perhaps.

I would also say your approach to your lore is a good reminder that this project is meant to be fun, too, and not everyone has to be a super autist about everything. Looking at how seriously some other reps take their worldbuilding can be intimidating!

In nature barrier reefs have many uses. Their primary use is to absorb the energy of waves before hitting land. This would also be true for currents under water as well. Like during a tsunami that can pull chumbuds away and throw them on land. The other uses are to keep waters clean of pests and algae and to hold an ecosystem of life.

I was thinking chumbuds would have domesticated coral that can survive hot temperatures and currents of the equator. The reef would expand miles from the coasts under water. Coral would attatch themselves to underwater buildings which protects the limestone from erosion. Maybe a species of domesticated coral can be used to seal limestone bricks together like mortar. Thoughts?

>>31551660
An extra wall around the city would work nicely as protection against waves, that's basically the idea behind artificial wavebreakers found in harbors. Walls around houses would be less efficient imo. Currents are a different matter, and aren't really dangerous. It might be a bit annoying to have to swim upstream if it's very strong, but since you can breathe underwater it's not like there's a risk of drowning.

Yeah, it can be grown in a specific shape. Basically, you want to put down a skeleton of the structure you want to build in a region where corals are able to grow, if you want you can seed it with coral polyps, and then it'll grow. The main issue is that this is a slow process, but if you intentionally feed the coral and maybe get the chuubanite involved, the growth could be fast enough to be practical I think. You could have learned how to do this over thousands of years of cohabitation with the coral as anon says.

Moriji lore has a bunch of End of the World theming sprinkled throughout, you'll have a lot of hooks. A fun part is that if the chuubanite stops working, the supervolcano will erupt catastrophically. Mori chuubanite keeps stuff cold, so the volcano is currently in a state of equilibrium between the geothermal heat coming from the mantle, and the massive cooling effect caused by all the chuubanite in the volcano. If the latter goes, shit's fucked, island's going Yellowstone.

>>31532579 (anchoring because this reply chain seems to be a pretty productive one)
The issue with the chains is that in the quantum interpretation there is no easy way to represent that without having to create another set of particles for "gluing" structures together, and I'd like to avoid particle bloat if possible. This might be unavoidable anyways.

My idea with the shapes is pretty close to what I think you mean with the individual concepts. Let me explain.
>1. We have established that the base state of the Vitium Field is the most vague Everything-concept. This is what represents every concept existing in the conceptual realm at once.
>2. Shapes are spatial areas in the Vitium Field where the everything-concept has temporarily separated into multiple individual more precise concepts. This separation happens all the time, but during chaotic times the shapes are more stable, last longer, and and there are more of them.
>3. When you are making an artificial vitium structure, you are grabbing one or multiple of these shapes, stabilizing them, and possibly connecting and separating them via channels of zero-state concept (as in, areas where the vitium field's energy and conceptual information is at 0. This interpretation needs no extra particles), OR via concept connecting particles (needs extra particles).

In this case, the chain links breaking is the equivalent of the connecting particles separating, or the zero-state concept weakening and being broken, allowing the vagueness of the everything-concept to spill in and reclaim the shapes back into the uniform vagueness of the field.

Manipulation of the fabric of the vitium field should be possible via glyphs, but also any action taken in the physical realm if vitubium is involved. Magic Quanta carry both energy and conceptual information, meaning that by manipulating them, you can manipulate the field on a localized level.

The quantum interpretation does not have an equivalent to "connection between the realms" as under it, the Physical Realm and the Vitium Field are connected to each other at all times, as the two exist on top of each other, thus the need to explain why a chaotic vitium field would make the creation of artificial structures easier. Thus the idea of the shapes, which are higher (potential) energy areas in the vitium field, meaning that when a lot of shapes exist, the field can have a pronounced effect on the physical realm, and magic users can use the existing energy of the field itself to make their magic more permanent or more powerful. The interpretations differ, but the outcomes are similar.

>Metaphor/example
Think of the Vitium Field as the surface of a body of water. In its space state, the surface is calm and uniform, you cannot see much differences anywhere, there are no individual shapes formed by waves or ripples on the surface. This is the base state of maximum vagueness, which doesnt naturally exist anywhere, as in the vitium field, there are always some ripples.

You can create shapes in the surface of the water by throwing in rocks, or pushing and punching the water yourself. This creates small waves, splashes, and ripples, but all of these return to the state of calm in a few minutes. The vagueness of the calm surface is too powerful for your influence to remain for a long time. This is what you can do with glyphs, vitubium, and what catalognauts can just do by themselves I suppose.

When the surface of the water gets chaotic during a storm for example, you can see individual waves that pop in and out of existence and form new wave-shapes when they pass through and interfere with other waves. Freak waves of massive proportions can pop into existence out of nowhere, and disappear just as suddenly. This is what happens when there is chaos in the field, with each of the waves being an individual shape (so a concept or a set of concepts temporarily separated from the uniform vagueness).

Now imagine you could expend energy to separate one or multiple of these waves, and suspend them in a fenced off area of the water's surface, where it remains even when the storm has passed, (plus, you can throw rocks in to create more ripples in this space). That is the equivalent of making artificial vitium structures.

>Glyphs and communicating
I thought you could fix this by adding a glyph on the participants. Glyphs that are made of chuubanite exist in both realms at the same time, so I think you could have a "target" glyph that communicates the idea of "this creature" to the vitium field. DNA may still be needed, but thats not an issue, especially since blood pacts are a cool concept.

I dont think we have perfect reflectors or blockers in the setting, but we have dampeners, so in this case it would work closer to how how soundwaves work, with solid objects and different materials reflecting portions of the waves and letting portion of them pass into and through them.
Thus, no inhibitors, but dampeners. You cant block all of the wave but you can block portions of it and you can lower their energy by a lot, unless you have a massive amount of the substance

The water surface analogy came to my mind only because its easier to visualize, and I happened to be sitting by a lake while writing it. Solid objects as far as I know have no clear equivalent here.

Hmm, we should think about the wavelength of a Vitium field wave. That will be the main driving factor how the waves interact with bulk dampener material. Logically, waves of any arbitrary wavelength should be allowed in the vitium field, so depending on the exact wave we're dealing with the interaction with bulk material of those special materials would change. Short wavelength excitations would interact strongly even with a thin film of dampener material, while longer wavelengths would go through it without noticing. And then the interaction is a combination of reflection, refraction, scattering depending on the nature of the material. You could engineer surfaces that result in a high percentage of a specific vitium field wave being reflected, I would think, if the analogies between magical quanta and EM waves hold.

i figured it would be the components of the artificial structure that would represent the "gluing" of it. for instance, if you use a single glyph, that glyph would represent all of the chain links that were uniquely formed by it, as well as take over for the links that were otherwise weaker, but not in a cumulative way, just in an overwriting sort of way. if that can't be represented in the quantum physics of it, then so be it, i'll differ to you, but just remember that the language used to communicate a concept is not the concept itself, and an artificial glyph exists to communicate a concept to the conceptual realm.
>during chaotic times the shapes are more stable, last longer, and and there are more of them.
i would have thought the opposite, that they were stable, and thus harder to influence, during less chaotic times. the stabilization is something you need to artificially influence to make sure the desired connections are formed and accepted going into the less chaotic times.
>I thought you could fix this by adding a glyph on the participants.
look at the instances where artificial intelligence misinterprets things. they often can't distinguish relevant information from irrelevant information, hence why you need to strengthen it as much as possible. the concept of a single, uniform "target" glyph that everyone can use equally would be referring to the same concept everywhere it was referenced. the glyphs are used to forcefully create a conceptual structure, you have to figure out how to communicate to the conceptual realm the difference between each individual target, and the more you use it for, the more junk data you give it that could potentially corrupt the overall concept, even if you use context-creating glyphs.
there has to sometimes be a separation from learning and doing to prevent an artificial intelligence from confusing valuable statistics with mere noise. contracts are exclusive to the individuals involved, if there is a sufficiently dynamic concept that could be used in any contract, yet could still retain that exclusivity while in use without being corrupted by noise, that would be fine, but it would probably be more reliable to use each individual party member as a concept, nevermind the fact that it would be easier to make that conceptual structure than the idea of an outsider-exclusive party, let alone multiple interacting parties.

I'll be honest, I get very confused about the waves sometimes.
We have at least 2 types of wave, the probability wave for the location of the magic quanta, and the conceptual wave. Im guessing its the conceptual waves that these surfaces would affect
Which would imply that certain surfaces or objects may be able to reflect conceptual energy of some types, while letting others pass through, which would lead us to
>magic polarization
>magic filters (effectively the same thing as polarization here)
>magic prisms
>magic mirrors (as in, an object that reflects magic energy)
>magic focusing and scattering lenses
>magic-optical fibres
>anti magic surfaces
>magic dampening systems
>magic amplifying systems
and probably many more. This would open up a whole new area of chuubanite engineering for the far future, and an entirely new field of vitubium research, which im gonna call "Vitium Optics".
Ofc, use of any of these ideas would be well beyond anyone in the setting right now, but I personally like the idea just from the perspective of brainstorming potential technologies and ideas.
A magic prism idea did pop up earlier with the Moriji diamond that OGsuner got. The idea of that diamond having been a concept-prism started the whole quantum interpretation.

>>31563528
The way a glyph would work is that a glyph can cause a controlled disturbance in the vitium field. The "language" in effect is this disturbance, which tells the vitium field (and thus, concepts themselves) how to behave in that particular point of space.

The chains would have to have some concrete form in the quantum interpretation, meaning that a particle would be necessary. In the quantum interpretation a singular concept in the conceptual realm exists as a wave that spans the entirety of Superreality, and all concepts exist like this on top of each other (since they can be in superposition).

Concepts can be separated in some locations of space by the removal of other concept waves from that particular spot, and this happens all the time as the Vitium Field "boils" like a kettle of soup. The more "boiling" you have, meaning the more waves and bubbles and disturbances you have on the surface, the more individual specific concepts become reality in that particular point of the field. These concepts do not stop existing anywhere else in the field, unless they are removed from some spots by other interactions. It would be theoretically and practically impossible to remove a concept in int entirety everywhere.

The individual precise concepts coming into existence ARE the chaos in the field, that is why they are more stable during chaotic times, and less so during calm times (when they exist in "harmony" with the rest of the concepts). "Chaos" is stable during the times of chaos, and unstable during the times of calm.

The idea being that for an artificial vitium structure, you need these individual precise concepts to be as stable as possible, because stabilizing them uses a lot of energy. You cant realistically create a new concept out of nothing, as the amount of energy required is really not available to a normal everyday person, so you need to use an existing one, and during chaotic times a lot of these temporary individual precise concepts pop in and out of existence (they always existed, but now they become "visible"), you basically just need to grab one of them, and create a barrier around it so it stays around. This barrier is part of the chain links, but it isnt all of them, you still need to connect the concepts you have trapped to each other.

>A bit of a tangent.
As the base state is vagueness, these individual precise concepts "want to" collapse back into the vagueness at any moment, and from this collapse a lot of energy is released.
-> stormy vitium field means a lot of magic energy popping into existence, leading to real world effects. You could think of the rushia nuclear meltdown as a massive (and very precise) vitium field shape aka vitium entity aka wave(set) aka rushia collapsing back into the vagueness, releasing an unfathomable amount of energy in the process.

The targeting thing could be sidestepped if souls are canonized, as they would essentially be a person's individual concept shape. You'd just need to connect an aspect of that to the structure created (as in, stabilized, isolated, and connected together) by the contract.

>and now you are here.
I've been here since the beginning of chuubanite, and have over the months contributed a lot to it, you've probably had a lot of those discussions with me (when you havent been talking with other reps wanting to make sense out of their mechanics).
The way I see it is that the concept-interpretation (as in, yours) is the equivalent to classical mechanics and relativity, and the quantum interpretation naturally equivalent to quantum mechanics. Both work and describe the reality correctly, but they may not fit together in every situation.

Waves are complicated, but it's good to get them, because everything in the universe is a wave!
The magitech cannon essentially works as a very crude magic lens, focusing the magic energy into a smaller volume while the activated chuubanite amplifies it. That's why it's shaped like a cone instead of a cylinder. I think allowing something akin to Vitium optics would definitely open up a lot of creativity for magic related-things later down the line.
So now that we've established wave transport basics, let's talk about the Vitium Refractive Index.
Proposal:
The VRI is the ratio of the speed of a conceptual wave in the vacuum over its speed in a given material.
This speed is driven by the Magical Susceptibility of the material, which is a measure of how much the wave disturbs (and thus is slowed down by) the Vitubium it comes in close proximity to. Higher Vitubium density results in higher susceptibility, thus a higher VRI.
The VRI will drive the angle of refraction of the wave as it changes medium, and how much it interacts with the medium.

>a glyph can cause a controlled disturbance in the vitium field.
artificial glyphs or glyphs in general? or are you talking about the wave function that represents a concept in it's entirety?
>The targeting thing could be sidestepped if souls are canonized
so, i told this to retroanon before, unless souls are a product of our magical system, having a separate metaphysical system supplementing the current one seems unreasonable to me. if souls are a product of our current system, they would be more technically thought of as the concept of a person. the concept of an individual person obviously exists in the "everything" concept, what i have a problem with is in how to use glyphs to isolate and associate such a complex concept to a single glyph.
my suggestion was essentially to canonize a person's identification, personality, and dna into a random, at-the-time meaningless symbol. a lot would be nessecary to differentiate the person's souls from their body, so the concept of a soul would be difficult to reference in any tangible way. not impossible, mind you, but impractical. the addition of a soul doesn't simplify anything is all i am saying, and i can't understand why anyone thinks it would.
>The way I see it is that the concept-interpretation (as in, yours) is the equivalent to classical mechanics and relativity, and the quantum interpretation naturally equivalent to quantum mechanics.
that's exactly my interpretation, which is why i feel like i am going through the same thing as you described. i just hope i stood tall enough for you to remember my legacy as you stand on my shoulders far higher than i could ever hope to reach.

paraphysics is opening up more opportunities while making existing limitations surmountable. a clearly defined system doesn't need to be merely limiting, and our magic system is designed specifically to have the potential of soft magic systems, with the explain ability of harder magic systems. think nen or alchemy.

pretty much. constantly losing something you love, just to rebuild it to lose it again. it was fun for most of us before, it can be fun for some of us still, but some of us want a break. i hope their morale returns to them soon, there are more than enough options for us to take advantage of to survive, but for now, they can rest i suppose.
