A personal peeve is less trying to be hololive, especially when it comes to game choices, song choices, etc. People fail to realize that Holos play garbage like Apex and Amogus because they've been stockholm syndrome'd into it via permission bullshit. Straight up just gaming or just chatting while looking cute/cool/silly/sexy. It's become rather expected that the content takes the backseat to the personality, but a person can only take so many Apex streams for so long.

You need trackers and HTC Vive or Valve Index baystations, at least one, preferrably two. It offers the "best" tracking in terms of being precise and smooth but can be a pain to set up, as well as super expensive. It also means wearing them on your body, and they only last 3-4 hours so you'd either need them plugged in or have the mounting straps that have built-in batteries.

>>3048943
That risk is non-existent unless you intentionally set up a camera source to capture your face through the webcam in OBS.

There's a fast but ultimately useless way to gain twitter followers, and a slow and soul crushing way that will make your twitter actually somewhat useful.

Fast and useless:
Do "celebration" giveaways for reaching superfluous milestones to boost yourself to the next milestone. Something like, "WOW THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT EVERYONE! I never thought I would hit X followers! To celebrate, I'm doing a raffle giveaway for (Skebs/vtuber hardware/steam giftcards). To enter, follow, retweet and like! winner will be announced on Y date!"

Slow and Painful:
Just follow vtubers somewhat close to your level of clout and comment tastefully on their tweets.

To gain followers that are not vtubers you'll have to just post clips and decent artwork of yourself and use the #vtuber tag until you have enough people that are willing to retweet your higher quality work. It takes a while to learn what the normies like and retweet.

>> No.3063084

>>3062971
not really. Your average twitter user barely even notices the tags. Some might search tags if there's some event going on or join in on some conversation. But the vast majority don't tweet anything and just wanna read tweets from people they like. The only people who will notice tags are those trying to increase their twitter clout or people who are incredibly cynical, and that latter group is really so tiny you shouldn't worry about them. Basically, try to spam tags whenever it's relevant. Don't lace your every single post with tags, but be sure to use them because they genuinely increase your visibility by a lot

I think these days people really like the parasocial aspect of following streamers.

It can be done without a facecam or a model obviously but it’s that weird robot thing right; people develop a bond easier if they can see who they’re talking to, even if it’s an anime wife, or a cute little slime or whatever. That’s why robots sing songs and are made cute and all that shit.
It’s the same principle for streaming imo.

Didn’t mean to get that deep there

VT is better for quick growth, but retaining subs is difficult and the platform is a little flooded with new ENVubers. Also, depending on how debased you want to be, you can really get the algorithm to flood your content to a lot of people, using tags and shit, but if it's not good then you're gonna regret it.

Twitch is better for small growth and retaining a community but it's harder to get noticed. You'll have to shill yourself a lot more if you want fast growth on Twitch. And again, if your content is crap, you're gonna fail.

Regardless of which platform you use, you'll want to upload your streams to VT regardess. People love going through VODs.

tldr; it's more about having good content than which platform you use.

>> No.3075490

I had a couple of test streams in January but began scheduled streaming in February after the release of OWTH.

Pro-tip to new streamers, no one wants to listen to you talk about normal everyday stuff. If you've got a funny story, spin it at least a little bit. It really doesn't matter if you're lying out of your teeth as long as you're entertaining.

On Twitter I had a few hundred, but followers do not mean viewers. On Twitch I had in the low double digits when I started and I'm approaching 1000 soon.

Another VTuber I used to look up to has several thousand followers on Twitter and Twitch but pulls in worse numbers than me when they stream, so ultimately I think it's more about finding a core of viewers.

I've built a small network of friends I raid and get raided by and occasionally I reach out and raid someone new. It's been working okay so far, but I wish I was getting raids from my bigger friends... but that's just me bitching. They literally NEVER raid down.

Honestly it's not so much the dakimakura as the fact that they were throwing shade while also having huuuuge reach with their follower-number. I don't like that shit, let people do what they want.

Basically he gets a bunch of readily available information that a lot of others have put time and research into (Harris Heller, Devin Nash, various articles on social media "reach", etc) and rewords them for V-Tubers because, for some reason, a lot of V-Tubers won't look at anything not directly related to them. They just refuse to look at the bigger picture of streaming and content creation as a whole and think "what should I do as a vtuber?" instead. Jusagi just grabs all that readily available info people are too stupid to use and rewords it so it's relevant to vtubers despite it still just being the same info. It's even worse because he talks all about success but neither him or anyone involved with him has had any success whatsoever, and the few people that were in his discord that grew did so without any of that advice besides "stream more, try different things" like Alfi or that green wolf.

Another question is with the tail. I feel like having it to the side is awkward, or do some people prefer for it to be in just one side? What about the tail swinging? I've seen that before and it's kinda distracting imo. Ideally, I'd like for it to be layered behind the character, so when the char moves to the side, it pops out and moves in the opposite direction.

There's a lot of artists that are just artists who make OCs and it's what a lot go with, but some specialize in character designing specifically, and often times their designs are much better. They don't have to be insanely priced, I got mine done for about 300, and had another previous design i decided to scrap for about 100. Both look good, I just felt the first wasn't for me.

>> No.3088430

I'm mostly posting this to make sure I'm not being an asshole or that I'm the bad guy here.

In short, I contacted an artist back in the beginning of March and set up a model commission with them for about 1.4k USD. They said they would have it done within 3 months, so long as their university work didn't bog them down. They asked me to pay up front before progress would begin. They had a solid portfolio and came recommended from a trusted source, so I didn't mind doing that.

Cut forward to this month. I gave the artist a poke on the 6th to see how things were going, but they didn't reply. In fact, that very day they went entirely offline. Their socials went quiet, and when I asked the person who recommended them, they said they couldn't get in touch with the artist either.

That state persisted until last Friday. The artist in question told another commissioner that their model would be done by last Sunday, but that's it. No replies to anyone worried about them, no social posts about where they had gone or what had happened. Nothing.

Where this is all going: Is it acceptable for me to initiate a Paypal chargeback at this point? The artist has (imo) been extremely unprofessional about this incident. Even if it was something major like a death in the family or something equally bad, it takes less than 15 seconds to say "Sorry, I'm going through X and need more time." I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I've done so many commissions over the years that when my gut tells me I'm being ghosted/flaked, I listen to it.

At the start it was just friends watching to support me, got some raids from one larger friends I had who I met before even considering streaming, which was honestly unexpected because he wasn't a vtuber. Other than that, it was purely networking. I have nothing on Youtube, no weird viral posts, no drama that brough people to me, and my twitter content really only get a minimal engagement, but I'm liked enough in the community to still get people telling others to check me out for various personality-related reasons. Making a lot of friends can help you out a lot as long as it's genuine.

Best part is if Male (male). Keep in mind I'm not saying you should ignore the most basic fundamental rules of content creation, but rather they're not 100% set in stone the only way to succeed.

Lots of VTubers don't "get" Twitch-stream culture.

Never raid someone who doesn't need it (higher 3-digits / 4-digits streamers) because they probably won't even notice you, for example.

Show appreciation for a raid, too. Like how hard is it to take a minute break to welcome everyone and thank the streamer who raided you? Check in on them, ask how they're doing, how their game went.

Not saying bigger streamers need to do this (but it's appreciated), but smaller streamers definitely need every advantage they can get, and if they appreciate their raiders they'll increase the chance of being raided again.

I dunno about this. Everyone knew the identity of all the other holos the week it started. It's part of the reason Gura exploded in popularity, they were already at almost a million subs on their original YT. Even Amelia was outed to be some indie vtuber with about 150-ish viewers, and they're easily the smallest by a massive margin.

Not to mention Coco's original channel has also grown despite her rarely even using it. Leaving Hololive almost guarantees your new identity will be successful unless you're someone like Aloe who was forced to graduate before even starting. If Matsuri quit and restarted tomorrow as a new vtuber, she'd still be extremely popular.
