Apex isn't the best thing for most Holos but honestly I like it a lot fucking more than fucking Monster Hunter. MonHun has potential to stick around for a long-ass time too FYI. So basically welcome to hell.

There are a couple holos who are kind of boring with Apex most of the time like Roboco and Matsuri but honestly they're just kind of like that with most games period. Aqua is the role model of how to Apex - be actually-good and be impressive when push comes to shove, but also fill up the massive time spent walking around/gearing up/running away with adorable zatsudan. She's just pleasant to be around. The one time Peko played it in recent memory was a fucking hilarious stream, too excellent content even by Peko standards.

So honestly I think it's more of the streamer than the game, and some rather droll Holos are the most Apex-obsessed ones and give it a bad rap.

Something else also crossed my mind, Aqua's aquatism prevents her from collabing with fucking anybody in Apex. No voice chat, won't talk to teammates in games period generally. Doesn't collab with other Holos in the game. Doesn't collab with random vtubers who are good at apex.

I think, THAT is the magic key. It lets Aqua constantly engage with her chat and be focused on the viewers while playing the game. She will really-pay-attention to it too, like a few weeks ago an example goes like this: She tells a story about how she got mad for real one time -> Her brother recorded over the last episode of an anime show wanted to watch (daily lives of highschool boys) -> She starts talking about anime overall -> Someone asks if she's ever seen the original EVA because new Rebuild was coming -> surprisingly (although she is a decade+ younger than some of us) no, she hasn't -> she starts asking about the series -> schedules a members watchalong of Eva and then follows through on it. That, all happened during an Apex stream.

I've plenty of times tried to watch say Towa or Matsuri playing it as some collab and it's literally them just talking dully and monotonously about gameplay probably 90% of the time. No audience engagement, no storytimes or using the chat for mutual entertainment while doing the boring parts of the game. Those various Apex collabs, when it's not newbies who are entertaining in their retardation (see the IDs, Nene etc) and people just tryharding playing the game flatly? Those might as well be fucking prerecorded.

Seemingly the majority of the time, she gets fucking objectively shit teammates who throw like it's the fucking Olympic shot put and are literally the very first deaths out of 60 people, practically forcing her to run around outside to not eat 48rp and undo the last hour of work. Diamonds will very typically camp boxes waiting for people to come get the banner; Aqua knows this (does it herself). The only reason she even got close to Master in the first place, was avoiding all the bait traps where she was the last one standing because the other teammates literally died in 2 minutes. Weirdly enough, the main reason I even played apex was because of Vtubers. Not because I was inspired to be as good as them, but because I thought they were shit and I could do 10x better than them.

It's a good game. I'm sure most of you hate BRs though. It's just not a good streaming game at all IMO.

There are two ways to make viewers want to watch an Apex stream: be good at the game or be entertaining.
Aqua is pretty good at the game, is cute and shouts a lot so people are interested in her streams
Matsuri and Towa aren't that good at the game but they can pull off good games sometimes. They also collab with other vtubers for the entertainment aspect
Astel is pretty good at the game, creates challenges for himself for viewers to be invested and is pretty entertaining so he's gathering attention. Apex is apparently also Holostars' bonding game
Roboco isn't that good at Apex and sounds like she's about to fall asleep when she plays, which isn't that interesting, but she has a dedicated fanbase that watches her
Fubuki isn't particularly good at the game either, but creates challenges for herself and only tends to play a lot when tournaments approach
