I'm still watching but there's definitely more boredom than before and I can't tell why. I'm even having a hard time enjoying the streams of my oshi even though she hasn't done anything wrong. Maybe I've just grown tired of the medium.

Because it's nothing more than some stupid girls in their 20s or sometimes 30s playing the same boring games every day while making more money in an hour than most people do in a year because their viewers are willing to pay for an illusion that they for once are seeing a woman who doesn't find them pathetic and disgusting, even though they totally do.
Why waste a decade on getting an engineering degree and then working in field of cancer research and be regarded as a pathetic loser as a result when just being retarded grants you all the money and love in the world a person can possibly get.

And I am no different, I had some other oshi, but I felt the same way as >>30088500. In fact, It happened to me multiple times. I don't want to cry because of somebody who don't even know I exist no more.
More than that, the streamer sometimes is also suicidal depressive menhera with codependence on the audience. Just what the fuck is her problem. She's set up for life, but still complaining "I have no friends" to thousands viewers. Maybe it's just for pity points, but not always.
In 2018 I saw vtubers as a brand new medium, some sort of amalgamation of vocaloids, anime with interactivity and idol culture without all it's drawbacks. I genuinely believed that people won't care about roommates and will avoid any knowledge of them at all costs because nobody would want to ruin the experience. That way, there is no place for drama and scandals, right? Oh body I was wrong.
Back then all vtubers were 3D and had high production value. Barely any streams. Live concerts, original music videos, it was a team effort with a lot of staff involved.
But quantity won over quality. Just pay artist and rigger for avatar, give to literally any girl from the street an iphone, tell her to stream whatever. Content doesn't matter, she'll get first 100k subs before debut from brand recognition alone. After that all that's left is to count money and pray there won't be a big yab.

anime got kinda okay recently and I can watch a full season of a show in like 4 hours instead of watching vtubers suck dick in apex or mine dirt in minecraft
drama is still fun
