The longer they wait the greater the chances of Hololive or some other company steals their thunder. The market is already on the downswing as fadchasers start moving on to the next big thing and if they wait much longer there is a decent chance they are going to make a big wet flop instead of the boom that they need.

Honestly don't see big companies as much of a threat to the established order. All the outside companies that have tried to get involved with vtubers in the past have more or less failed to do anything noteworthy. Bushiroad launched vtubers, nobody watches them, Square Enix has vtubers nobody watches, Takara Tomy has a vtuber nobody watches, TV stations in Japan have picked up vtuber groups and got nowhere with it. I think being part of a big company that is throwing money around and trying to muscle their way into your attention is kind of the antithesis of what people are looking for in vtubers to begin with. It's like youtube content where people want the creators to seem "authentic" but on steroids because the connection is much more immediate. If you slap some big corporations name on it you are already on the back foot with trying to convince people of becoming invested in you like that.

The time is totally normal. Nijisanji in the past before 2020 actually had much less time. It was audition in a month and debut later on, at least for overseas branches. This seems to change because now there's a lot of time between auditions and then the debut. So I'll say it's May/June debut.

Those debuts from 2020 were from earlier auditions. I don't think it has anything to do with NijiEN, even more when it was just announced in november and then auditions opened in december. With that said, Ichikara was doing auditions and debuting vtubers in like a month before, but they changed since 2020 with KR already opening auditions in nov of that year but the new gen only announced in this month. What events? The only one doing anything is Kizuna Ai and that got debuffed by the WuFlu.
Kiara is going to participate in some German Eurocon, so we'll see how that goes.

For sure, I know plenty of people that would buy a lot of merch if it wasn’t for the $20-30 shipping cost.
Kiara has really been pushing for Hololive to get involved in conventions.
I wonder if Nijisanji will do something similar as well.

He's not talking about himself specifically. People like labels, groups, and branding. If you divide them up, a lot more people are likely to get into them by groups. Niji is broken into groups too, but it's not focused upon/put into the EN wiki beyond what year they debuted.

On the flip side, you do get people loving one group and hating the rest, but that's not a major problem for Holo yet since JP barely has 25 or so people. Even then you still have schizos going around spamming "gen 3 is the best and the rest suck", or even people comparing JP to EN.

Easier to remember everyone when you group them by gens.

Because women by themselves are fucking retarded and need to be told what to do. I want them to be indies and work by themselves but not spout their propaganda.
