So I'm still going for this but I need help anons.
I tried out for the duolingo and it's trying to teach me a bunch of hiragana and how to spell a bunch of random-ass words in it. I don't need that. I need grammar instruction, I need sentence structure, I need words I don't know already. And I need them in Romaji. Honestly the idea of teaching a foreigner Japanese through Hiragana is a fucking dumb idea to me, it makes more sense to me to learn the language through an alphabet you already fucking know and THEN learn how to decipher it into moonrunes.
Where the fuck do I go for this. Do I just google everything or is there a learning site that doesn't suck ass?

An as anon who started with Duolingo too, I was initially turned off by the app trying to teach me Japanese characters so I get your frustration. My advice, tough it out and learn the hiraganas and katakanas by writing the characters down on paper and training to recognize their meaning through Duolingo since it's a step you can't avoid. The problem with Duolingo is that it doesn't really have an easy way to go review the words and characters it supposedly already taught you. As soon as the app tries to teach you some kanjis, you can stop using it since it's shit at it, the font is way too small to learn them that way. I prefer using Tanoshii Nihongo to learn kanjis
Another advice, anons can tell me if they disagree: don't use Anki, it probably won't be of much use to you right now. It's for people who have been learning Japanese for a while already
I can't insist enough on doing handwritten reps. Write 5 hiraganas down a day, for example, あ=a, え=e, い=i, お=o, う=u, look away from the correction and try to see if you remember the meaning of what you wrote when looking at the characters, and then go through Duolingo to see if you actually remember them. Everyone has their best ways to learn stuff, and it's through writing for me

Ngl, I've already lowered my expectations to the minimum possible. So whatever happens in a few hours, I won't be disappointed

Kakugo is not too shabby to learn kanas if you have an android phone. the key is rote memorisation. You can learn them really fast if you put some effort into it, since the sounds are the same between the hiraganas and the katakanas and because kanas are grouped together in a logical way.

it's hard but just think of it as learning your ABCs because that's literally it.
Romaji is learning to ride a bike with training wheels you can still cycle but you won't go far
Also the way some transcription of sounds in romaji actually hinders your learning since no japanese type in romaji unless they are talking to a gajin (You) who has done almost no reps.
Also romaji usually enforces your pronunciation mistakes of the actual japanese sounds like the Japanese and English 'r' sounds and make you sound like an obvious gajin.
