As a VShojo fan who watches a lot of Twitch, I also know how the raiding system works and I know what Silvervale's general numbers are. There's no cope here, just explanation as to what is going on. The raiding system is beneficial because it keeps fans interested with the "brand", if you will, and like I said, VShojo knows how to use it very well. They do it whenever there's a big event happening to combine their viewers into one big event, which is why Veibae had 20k veiwers for her redebut, when she normally rocks about 4k. Pay attention this Saturday, because you're going to see them do it for the Kizuna Ai concert with Nyanners, even tho you can't directly raid the event. They will all build up an army and then stop streams right when the concert starts so everybody can go there.

VShojo are masters at keeping their fans interested and engaged. If YT does go through with the update, we'll see how long it takes HL to figure it out (because Miko doesn't allow raiding on Twitch right now).

I'm not a big enough VShojo fan to know the ins and outs of their company but from the outside it looks like the whole thing is set up to support Mel and her friends while keeping near complete agency in their actions. A legal support structure to help when problems arise. They can be as popular as HoloLive, but actually being as 'big' as HoloLive would require much more investment and staff. I wouldn't rule it out but I don't imagine you could maintain the same level of freedom if it got too large, they seem to have the best of both worlds right now.

interestingly enough both Niji and HL have played around with stream relays to similar effect. Aqua did a relay event for minecraft earlier this year where each participant would have a smaller stream and send viewers over to the next by the end effectively passing the baton. Everyone involved had much higher viewership as a result.

A proper system to send viewers to another stream would be nice on youtube so long as it's entirely optional. Raid culture is helpful but can also be disruptive.
