We were the future outreach, the other end of a great bridge and gradually we're proving how bankrupt we are and Japan vtubers are retracting away from us. How many are still trying to learn English? The thing that scares me the most and I don't think any of us have realized the full scale of it is just how much of a negative that whole Coco Taiwan/Graduation saga was for overseas. Like everyone agrees that it is really really bad, but I think we might be a few years away from fully understanding just how bad when we have full 20/20 hindsight. Kind of like those inflection points in long-running television series where years later during retrospectives people fully grasp 'Oh ya, we knew it was pretty bad but now looking back it was colossally bad and while we trucked on things were never the same and never got better and acted like a poison until things ended'.

What does that even mean? Morally? Financially? Culturally? The EN branches weren't created JUST for English speakers or the west. People from all over the world watch them. There's a reason their clips get translated into so many different languages. If they're experiencing a decline, there's a possibility it could be related to the content rather than just the audience, but it's not like we have any concrete way of proving any of this.

This is the real reason but nobody wants to say it because they don't want to admit their oshi's shtick has gotten old. The JP branches of Nijisanji and Hololive do a lot of fun and whacky events to keep things interesting like Marine being a nun, Okayu operating a host club, SKB writing AVs or Fumino Tamaki doing anything. They also do various 3D events in the form of skits and lives.

In comparison, all the EN girls do is just play video games and occasionally do karaoke. That's it. I don't really dislike any of the EN girls but I barely tune in to watch them nowadays because they're just stale. Whatever they do now I've seen them do it already a year ago.
