What makes her sound weird is that she has an odd prosody, aka, the rhythm of speech. She has small but not weirdly-long pauses between certain words and syllables, and over-enunciates certain syllables sometimes. I dunno if she's overcompensating for a speech impediment or something or she was just always one of those kinda-weird kids who couldn't talk right, but that appears to be the source.

Vtubers are best enjoyed when you watch them as if you would watch a TV show. Cut them out if they're boring, only tune into the shit that catches your eye. After all, they are demanding multiple movie lengths of time for the average video. Keeping up on that either necessitates being guilt tripped, or the streamer being really strong.
Been here since Actv8, back when Nobubime was making 20 min sketches. If you ask me, the shift to streaming has brought a deluge of entitled paypiggies and low effort content creators. There's this culture of dedicating your life to a garbage product out of a sense of loyalty.

I'm someone who speaks almost exactly like Fauna. (structure of speech, not voice)
I dunno if we have the same reasons for the similarities in our speech and I could be completely off the mark.
But Fauna is the first person I have ever heard who has so many of the same speech habits as I do, so I'm inclined to think maybe we do.

My own reasons for the "habits" we share are the following:
1) Overemphasizing D's and T's. I always do this to the point that many people comment on in it. They are hard for me to pronounce, so if I didn't, I'd be too prone to revert back to not using them at all.

2) Frequent pauses while speaking. I do this all the time, mostly because I have a very hard time pulling up words in my head (aka active vocabulary) and the pauses are me trying to rack my brain to find the word that is on the tip of my tongue.
3) Related to 2, more times than not, I'm not able to find the word in my head. Since I don't carry a thesaurus around all the time (but lord knows I have one open right now), I am forced to resort to the closest synonym I can think of on the fly. Most of the time the word is more 'refined' then necessary. People tell me I sound pretentious all the time, but I can't help it.

4) Also related to 2, another reason I pause while speaking is my difficulty with choosing the correct prepositions. I mix them up all the time, just like Fauna. If I catch myself before saying the wrong one, I pause. If I fail to do so, I reconstruct my sentence to accommodate my error.

As for origins of the habits, I'd have to pin it on growing up in a multilingual household, and low aptitude in the active vocab department (read: minor autism).
Add some extensive education to help make up for the shortcomings, and you get speech that is very close to Fauna's.

I know nobody asked for the blog post, but shit, it still feels good to get my thoughts down. Like I said Fauna is the first person I've ever heard who speaks even remotely like I do, so this board is the only place my thoughts on the matter will ever be relevant.
