I don't think you can recreate what Ai did here in the West. Activ8 took disparate elements from various parts of otaku culture and Japanse Internet culture and combined them to create Ai and the VTuber concept.

Nyanners is more like Gatchman and creators like him. People who had become pretty popular(as in, over 1 million sub popular) doing one form of content for a while who have adapted their content to account for the new big trend in a clever way to continue staying relevant, in both cases it was turning their avatar/persona into a vtuber. Not necessarily trailblazers by any means, but continue to stay fairly successful in this new form(although comparatively, Nyanners is doing better since she has less competition). I feel like people like Nyanners will jump to the next trend when Vtubing inevitably stops being the "popular" thing.

The old formula has been going for too long. VTubers have always been meant to be a tiny niche, and although it somehow managed to get this big, it can only grow so much. Its already showing signs of stagnation, wich can only be followed by decline. So while we are in growth, even if very smooth compared with how it was, its still valid trying your luck into vtchubbing if you are confidend in your "entertaining skills".
