I was fairly new to hololive, I actually came in because I heard of the haachama schizo arc.
I didn't really watch her or anything, just heard about this crazy fucking girl who streamed the maddest shit and thought I'd give hololive a try, and actually watched the ENs for while, from gura to ame to mumei, however after seeing all the hype for the second haachama and luna collab I thought I might as well watch it.
one of the most entertaining streams I've ever watched, even though I barley understood anything I laughed more than I ever did watching an EN stream, then a sudden realization struck me that the ENs would never do something like this, so I just dropped them and now flutter between jp holos watching whatever seems the most interesting, never really had an oshi but will probably never even look at the ENs way ever again

HoloJP was my introduction to vtubers back in early 2020, and while I liked many of their streams, I wasn't able to follow most of what they were saying because I don't know Japanese.
So, around mid-2020, I started seeking out EN vtubers, and found some EN indies that I really enjoyed, and mainly focused my time on them, simply because I could understand them.
I did check out HoloEN when they debuted in late-2020, but didn't really stay after their honeymoon period, and went back to my EN indies. (Hype wore off)
Since then, things haven't really changed for me. Many other vtubers have come and gone, but I've continued to watch the same EN vtubers I found years ago, even after they reincarnated into the second biggest corpo.

I used to feel the same way about Amelia and was close to dropping her. if I'm assuming correctly that you mean April of last year there's good reasons why she acted the way she did. Burnout from constantly streaming and having constant health issues from breathing in termite poop and battling newfound celiac disease can definitely fuck you up. Living in a shit hole can affect you in ways you don't know. I'm 100% certain things went downhill because she moved to that disaster of a house. However I stuck with her and was banking on things getting better after she moved to a healthier environment, and they did. I was watching most of ENs and English speaking IDs, but after a year they just stopped doing it for me. At one point, I opened a stream, watched it for a few minutes, and closed it. I stopped care what they are doing. And so I dropped all of them. Expect for my oshi, Risu.
