What is /asp/?

A thread for aspiring vtubers! Whether your goal is to make the journey as an independent streamer or to gain experience and build a portfolio for agency auditions. Let's help each other grow and make it. Indies are welcome to selfpost, but shill responsibly. Share your knowledge, insights, feedback, discuss what has worked and what hasn't worked for you. And always remember to do your research before posting personally identifying information. That includes both in this thread and in your audition applications to agencies.

FAQ:
>Do I need a fully rigged model to be a vtuber?
Nope! You can get started as a simple .png character!

>I want to learn how to rig Live2D models, where do I go?
Brian Tsui (of Iron Vertex), Kira Omori and the official Live2D YouTube channels have many tutorials available.

>Where can I find artists/riggers?
vtuber.gg, ArtStation, DeviantArt, Twitter, Reddit, Skeb.jp, etc.

>I just want to get started, can I buy pre-made models?
Yes! Live2D models can be purchased off nizima.com (Live2D's official marketplace) or booth.pm (general Japanese indie artist website). Be sure to check compatibility with your facial tracking software!

>Where can I learn how to digital market myself?
https://learndigital.withgoogle.com/digitalgarage

>Where can I find some good games to stream?
https://twitchtracker.com/games
https://sullygnome.com/

>Twitch or YouTube?
The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

I think something that can encapsulate the hoodie dilemma better is that people with lower art ability/eye for creativity are going to gravitate to having easier outfits which results in lots of crappy hoodies and t-shirt designs.
Of course this can be trumped with art skill or art style (also needing decent art skill). There's a reason why all 'Outfit Design Contests' are actually just 'Best Artists Contests'. The design matters, yes, but more importantly is the ability of the artist to render that idea in the best presentable manner.

Wrong. He streamed for 2 full months after the raid before taking the break. He retained none of the raid numbers. You're trying to rewrite history to imply he stopped streaming the day after the raid and attribute that as the failure.

>> No.24284982

Turn them off then if you don't like them. But if you have them on, then there's an expectation that you're welcoming to them and you should act as such.

Blowing off a raider and the people they've brought in is detrimental both to yourself and the raiders. It doesn't just reflect badly on the streamer themselves but also the raider that came in since it brings down the entire mood they spent ages building up over the stream. The only thing the raiders will remember is disappointment, but even more so they'll leave the stream and give 0 retention which hurts the stream's own chat.

Yep. There's no discussion to be had here. Meanwhile all the familiar names of actually streams all know eachother and raid eachother and talk perfectly happily.

Also the correlation between 24/7 4channing and success is painfully obvious. Playing online anonymity internet detective ambassador of /asp/ is so utterly unproductive. Let me know when there's a successful anonymous streamer. It's just a lost cause, the recent Discord is really the beginning of the end. The vast majority of /asp/ streamers have left /asp/, as is natural with growth and progress.

But yeah, a good short-cut to growth is find a nice community which you can contribute to in a meaningful way. Even if your contribution is just by being supportive and giving your time, that means a lot to people. Be sociable, don't hog attention or call it to yourself (especially when someone is trying to celebrate something), don't look desperate, and if you need to ask for advice show how grateful you are that someone took the time out to help you.

We talked about it in call. Literally everyone got crabbed, it's whoever is prominent and successful. The conclusion is that it's just someone (regardless if plural) who's so unfortunately ill they can't stream or even take off online anonymity and have a need to put others down and bring people going up back down or something.

Anyway the point is when we realized we all got crabbed the point of where crabbing actually helps the target was achieved. Like schizo's or anti's may think they are "cleaning" the thread or making /asp/ about what it's supposed to be, god knows why, but it was exposure and practice dealing with such. You need to be aware at some point someone will say "real name kill yourself" in your chat live. We've had people had to move due to dildo mail before.

This is the only time raids can consistently and reliably help, when the creators are fostering a community together, but I suppose that's more of a networking thing not just "raids help". I've gotten a few regulars from raids as well but they're really just random and not something you can depend on. While I guess you can TECHNICALLY gain viewers from raids it really isn't something dependable. +1 or 2 viewers is neat but not something you can or should depend on. Just make good content and network.

This. I feel like anons don't understand women and get yumejos and fujoshis mixed up all the time. Fujoshis in a lot of cases are just closeted lesbians or they also happen to overlap into a heavy femdom fetish, so the chances that they might be a yumejo for a cuter guy is high. With this being said, if it's a yumejo, they want to insert themselves into it, so the content they choose to consume will be reflective of their type or preference in man, and this is where you see that preference for deep voices come out, because a lot of women undeniably like deep voices. If it's a fujoshi, generally they consume yaoi to see a cute guy getting fucked. If you've stuck around for a dog stream at all, sometimes his chat will derail and they will start calling him a bottom and other things like that, same with streamers like shxtou or sunkenji.

Lex's fans are yumejoshis, and dog's fans are fujoshis. There is a clear difference between them, and it's best not to get them conflated.

Yumejoshi = yumejo x male
Fujoshi = male x male

Not fujoanon, but yumejo here instead. I think voice and design are inarguably the most important things for a male VTuber, even more so than female VTubers. For /asp/ies, none of the ones I know of catch my eye. Though that might just be because my taste in men is more atypical. There are some cases which I can overlook design if I really like a guy's voice though.
Thing is, all the male VTubers I watch don't really pander to fujos/yumejos. All of them are 'brotuber' types. I hate to be 'that guy' because this advice is said to hell and back, but do whatever content you want. Its gonna be easier to market yourself if you go the pandering route but its not the only way to attract that audience. I like seeing cute guys do cute things.

He hasn't been streaming again which I'll let it slide because he said it's due to corona, but if I bought subscription for nothing, I'll be mad.

I dogpiled on Jay that one time as well, but to be fair, it did look pretty bad uncolored. I'm a fan of his new model, I think it's a unique one since it's sitting down, but his jokes get really unfunny sometimes. However, I do enjoy his art content a bit, and so I'll continue to follow along for that. He also needs to stream more.

Alto has a very cute concept, mahjong cowboy? Where have you seen that before? But I'm afraid he needs to do his English speaking reps before I can dedicate my time to really following along with his streams. A better mic or better mic filters would help too.

I like where Kaiser's rebrand is going, and so I'll keep an eye out on that. I think Kaiser's voice is nice and his accent is a buff too, so I'll likely follow along more when he frees himself from the grips of babi.

There's not many males here that I can think of that aren't babis, but I'll throw in a few comments for Azu if he's interested.

Azu, you've got a cute voice. Probably one of the better ones in this thread, and you might have some real appeal for females if that's what you're looking for if you choose to get a male model. If not, keep being yourself bodysuit anon. Luck is on your side.

Hello yumeanon, it's fujoanon. I agree with you completely. When guys start sperging about things they like and are passionate about, it's really cute. And I don't know how to stress that enough. Sorry for using dog for so many examples, but he's the only one I actively watched from here because obviously, I'm appealed. Dog spergs about tetris sometimes, and it makes me feel femgosling emotions. The more we get to know about you, the more appealing you become. The power of gap moe can do crazy things too. In this example, a guy who goes to parties and has a social life as acknowledged earlier, being obsessed with tetris? Such a cute disconnect. Other more generic examples can be like a macho guy obsessed with collecting stuffed animals, or a clumsy guy who likes doing meticulous things like building gundams, and things like that. We like little autistic quirks that we can notice.

Just a question, not trying to crab but what is the appeal of the dog? It's not even an actual guy as far as i know, and the voice is barely listenable at best, so what is the appeal that you find?

nta but an enjoyer of the dog, he's extremely sociable. that's it that's really all it takes to be a good streamer (outside of spreading your content) and that's all it's ever taken and it's why all of the top streamers are sociable, outgoing people whether it's terminally online people with tons of friends or people like Asmongold or Iron Mouse who are shutins and made all their friends online.

she clearly stated that she likes his voice and personality and mannerisms. in case you forgot anon, everyone has different tastes. and did he ever confirm or deny if he was a tranny? why is it such a prominent rrat

>> No.24294796

really funny how people try to force these weird rrats like random male chuubas being ftm
even in /wvt/ you'd get chuubas who are clearly male like carmine and kongou and people would just keep repeating the same weird bait

How and when has this ever been a rrat for the dog? He'll quite literally tell you. Zero people have called Kongou or Carmine trans in any serious conversation.

you should ask him and report back with the conversation screenshots, i'm sure that would go over really well and i'm sure some of us in /asp/ would like to know too

you don't speak for anyone other than your schizo viewer ass. no one cares. being trans has no impact on the content you make.

Every place has something they blame an unpopular, conflicting, or just different opinion on. People have called me a viewerfag for suggesting people do their own research when it comes to certain aspects of streaming. It's just a catchall insult people use that's relevant to the thread because it means a chuuba should disregard the opinion whether it's good or not simply because the person is accused of being a viewer.

This is definitely a troll, but I'll set it straight. I like the character, and the voice that he provides to the character. I don't give a fuck what the biological gender is of the provider behind the character. And you know what? Now I know the person behind the character is cute too, which is more than you could say for yourself I'm sure. I hate schizos.

only a boogeyman because of a couple of schizos shitting up the thread in the past. a viewer anon came in and kept bringing up the topic of lore and why chuubas don't invest more in lore. got told it doesn't matter for streams but kept asking and caused one of the aspies to schizo out even harder in return. shit like that.

Since these fujos and yumejos are out, will need your wisdom on how effective this is, copying the voicework of femanon a few threads ago.
Aiming for a cheerful persona myself, but would the occasional switch to deep voice produce a domineering presence and net both fujos and yumes? I've seen many examples of guys going cute but how about cute bottom guys going rough?

Not really related. It's a bit weird switching voices like that but can't see it working well on one character. It would be better if you could stick with one voice and then find a way to make that cheerful or domineering.
