Alright, this time I will come up with a design.
My main interest in real life are weight lifting, Japanese and 3DCG(learning). I am a bald man and I refuse to have a male model with hair.
I have a very rough ESL accent. Whenever I am unsure of what to say in a social situation, I default to talking about muscles.

The kind of content I want to do:

My idea for a design is to be a non-descript bald anime man, or I could finally stop repressing my true nature and become the loli babiniku that I was always meant to be, something like pic related. I want the blonde hair with drills and frilly dress, but more cunny. I'm not sure how to make it cuter and funnier.
I've always been trying to hide it, but God I love cunny. I used to put down my friends whenever they were watching animes with characters a bit too young, but deep inside... I just can't keep living this lie.

Former babi, but just from changing my model from female to a male I've seen a definite increase in retention and viewership. I'm going to wait another month or two before I'm fully convinced, but making zero announcement and making zero changes to my content I've seen a lot more retention swapping from my female Live2D to a male one. Not saying you should all swap but just giving my experience being a babi for almost a year vs having a male character. The female model was given to me by a friend when I started streaming kind of just as a joke/way for them to get some experience drawing/rigging models so on my end there was very little investment, but maybe something to consider.

It's not 4 to 6, it's more like 10 to 20 over the course of a month and a significant amount of chatting. Like I said, I'll wait another month or two before to make certain it's related, but the fact I didn't promote this in any way whatsoever and just told my viewers I was swapping and gave them a few previews over the course of a month or two I'd say there's a good chance it is. I think the main issues are the eyes, and maybe the hair. when I add in a pre-made set of eyes, and erase the dark circles, it looks a lot less edgy.
I'll tinker around with it a bit more, but the hair still feels off somehow.
I can't think of any anime hairstyles that could work.

Unless you're making absolutely god tier Youtube videos, which no one here is, the "they'll watch for my content" thing is meaningless. They aren't watching you because they don't know you exist and if they DO know you exist and still aren't watching or are leaving (a stat you can see that'll likely crush any /asp/ie) then there's a very good chance you or your content are the problem.

Significantly more unique viewers than average is absolutely normal and fine, but if you find the number is constantly staying the same or growing then it means, despite more people knowing who you are and where to find you, they're still leaving

Your options are

A. Hire an artist. Gather up some references (hair, body type, clothing, accessories, faces, different characters who fit the overall look you're going for etc), type of a SHORT description of a few sentences describing what you're looking for that include the overall mood you're looking for (serious, carefree, smug, etc.) and a short description of what you have in mind including things you'd like to avoid (for me it was always facial hair, fur collars, and short hair), and anything else IMPORTANT you feel you should include. Don't go full on OC lore, that shit doesn't matter unless it's related to how the character looks.

B. Buy a model from Booth.PM like the OP suggests and learn how to use Unity to add a few accessories then modify the skin textures to suit your need, a model from that website will put your quality well above any new chuuba and well above a lot of established chuubas in general.

C. Continue on with your terrible look Vroid.

Honest advice my man. I started with a Vroid model myself. It was hot garbage, but I had fun with it. I barely got 2ccv, but I didn't care because I wanted to see if Vtubing was for me. I decided it was, and then took my Vroid as a base reference to a designer, asked them to make it not shit and provided a bunch of other references. I'll be ready to stream in a few weeks with a much improved model and a mindset for growth, because the Vroid model told me that while it was unwatchable janky, It was something I enjoyed doing and that It should be improved.

This is partially true in the sense that nobody will come to your stream on model alone. Think regular YouTubers like pyrocynical or gradeAUnderA who have shitty designs but provide great content. The top people in YouTube in general are male streamers such as mizkiz, sykunno, and dream who has never face revealed. Other anons gave plenty of advice on that front. the Vroid model I used and the one I commissioned look radically different, and it should because 2d has none of the limitations of Vroid. If you think all of the advice was trash, then disregard what they said and go to an artist that does character design commissions. It's going to be pricey, but if you didn't know that ahead of time, that's on you. And that's more than just the model, btw.
Don't try to get ahead of the curve when you have stuff to do that's right ahead of you. I think you've got your priorities a little backwards here, but I wish you the best of luck.

He kept his artist, he even got another model from them and one came out saying "Not my fault what my client does." and he can barely hit 400 most days. One thing to keep in mind though is that he's seen zero growth in a year despite almost constantly being on the rise from Day 1 and slowly but surely been on the decline.

With VA skills, it can be as simple as altering the pitch and tempo of your voice. Personally, I imagine having to talk around certain shaped inflatable things in my mouth, to push things into certain resting positions, and that's good enough to have distinct voices.
