CDDA might actually be a better streaming game because it's essentially a sandbox. The only problem is how much time you spend navigating menus. Would also file Unreal World under this category. Both of these also have the problem of instakilling noobs a lot.

Actually roguelikes are uniquely suited for streams, the fault lies on the total lack of entertainment skills, charisma, or community. Their turn-based nature, sticky and sometime funny situations, and often complex systems, wether they are experienced or not (they can be guided, or be the guide), and it's chill nature allows greater engagement with it's viewers to discuss the gameplay, or anything you wish to discuss.

Before the fulgurant rise of v-tubing, I had great experiences interacting with roguelikes twitch streamers, even with extremelly low view counts. Actual roguelikes are one of the hardest kind of game to stream. Playing them requires an absurd amount of knowledge and the ability to stop and think your next moves. This goes against the spirit of streaming, this is why very few streamers manage to succeed at keeping viewers. If you check any roguelike stream with higher than average viewership, you find that most of them only plays one game and knows it by heart. Even the rare popular streamers who have streamed roguelikes (for example joel from vinesauce) knows the games they play relatively well and still get low viewership compared to their normal streams.

Roguelikes are aren't hard to stream. They're turn based so you have plenty of time to think, talk, explain your thought process, interact with chat, etc. The way the games are structured can even be used as a way to milk out interaction by wargaming your next move with chat. The issue with roguelikes is much more simple than that: nobody fucking plays them or is familiar with them, so almost nobody will understand what is going on (this is the kind of game where if you havent played it, you wont understand shit) or be able to participate. Also many of them have boring repetitive ass segments (sokoban in nethack, grinding in angband, etc). This is why when you do see a roguelike its DCSS I guess, its the most well known one and doesn't have much dead time in comparison. Imagine some dude streaming nethack but then you have an hour of shoplifting and price iding followed by sokoban.
