If Holomembers actually wanted that revenue for themselves they'd run a clip channel where they paid someone to edit and translate for them. It's not siphoning viewers because a stalwart clipnigger would never watch streams in the first place, no potential viewers lost, someone who'd be interested in watching a stream has to go to the source, that's a potential viewer turned into an actual viewer. If Cover thought it was damaging they'd start issuing copyright strikes, they're well within their rights to

Regardless of how you look at it, it's damaging. Ripping somebody elses material and monetizing it is scummy, regardless if those viewers end up tuning into the main channel or not. The "big" clip channels could be x3 striked within matter of hours for how much shit they've stolen and made money off. Cover will pull their finger out this year, I'm willing to bet.

Reminds me of that one Kanata translator that did her whole 3D, then got asked to take it down by cover and just give timing and subtitles to put on the main channel.

Like I said, if Cover really thought it was damaging they'd have already done something. Instead clip channels get shoutouts and thank yous from the girls and smaller channels beg for clippers. The only damage they could do is if the big channels started clipping competitor's content and sending the audience elsewhere, I'm willing to bet the big clipper channels have some sort of agreement with Cover not to clip non-Hololive content because a lot of them used to do Niji and even indie clips, though it could also be because Hololive clips get the views so clippers don't bother with anyone else any more

Sort of, I watch a lot of streams but I still watch clips to keep up with stuff that happens outside of what I watch, even if you dedicate yourself full time to watching Hololive there's a ton of streams you'll miss due to overlapping schedules and I have other responsibilities so at best I'll catch 1-2 streams a day. That's irrelevant to what I'm saying though, you can dislike clipfags for only ever engaging with a flanderised version of a vtuber but clipfags =/= clips

They used to do that, but then Youtube had an aneurysm and decided that removing the ability to do that was a great idea.
And since uploading the full stream subtitled would obviously be problematic, that was the end of it.

There are so few fans who are dedicated and genuine enough to contribute anything to the community. I do FR/EN for a small group but that's all I can do and it's not very in demand. If more people stepped up we'd have a lot more girls in the 1-2m range

What's easier, translating a short clip of a couple of minutes or the entire 8-10h stream?
Even if someone was crazy enough to do that, then they would need another person to check the translation for the 8-10h stream someone submitted to avoid troll translations. It would take days if not weeks to include the subs
And then once the subs are on the VOD, do you really expect an EOP to go back and check some old ass 8-10h long VOD?
Fan made clips are better for the vtubers in order to get new live viewers for their streams and donate superchats.

That's not how it works, retard.
For Hololive and other Japanese vtuber companies translators and clip channels are actually very useful tool to reach to audience outside of Japan and they are totally aware of it. There would probably be no Hololive EN if not clippers making people interested with Hololive in the first place.
Fact that there are people that willingly are doing this job for what from Cover corp's pov is absolutely free is a godsend. Yagoo is not a complete moron to shoot down people that are making money for him.
