I really, really want to try being a vtuber, but because of reasons, I can't really let myself be recognized doing that. Then I discovered Hololive through Myth. It was fascinating, wasn't really interested in vtubers before because of the language filter but I ended up relating closely to Mori, her art streams especially made me feel warm and fuzzy. I eventually starting watching everyone else after that, even the JPs I don't understand the words of because they made me smile with their energy and attitude too. I feel like my mind's improved a lot since then but even as an aspiring chuuba I feel like I'm still full of doubts.

I think I just want people to know I exist now. If I had killed myself when I had the chance before I decided to run away instead, little would have changed and it makes me feel like there was no point in staying alive. I wish I could make people smile like the Holos do, but it feels so strange to believe I can be capable of helping others like that and it's hard to shake off the feeling that I'm doing this just for my own indulgence, or if I'll abandon everything in a split second like I did in those art communities before. I know I need to focus on my own fun though, so at least I know I already have fun with streaming on its own.

I revealed my (male) design recently and because he's a hot anime boy, loads of women have flocked and are flooding my design and my voice with compliments - I've not really had this before but I only wanted to be a fairly "bro" streamer playing games and making (male) friends to chill and game with.

Do I capitalise on the interest and dip my toes into BFE and pander/sell out to female viewers? I'm not desperate but it would be a safe way to build my audience. My #1 goal is to be a bro and chill with friends, but I'm wondering whether I should try and strike a balance whilst I'm still growing?

In the end getting the technic right won't be a problem, you'll have more difficulties with attaining the shapes you want the same way you would a drawing. Having a reference sheet is what will pull your through these difficulties. If you can't draw yourself you may have to commission anyway because you'll probably model as well as you draw.

There's a LOT that you can get caught on.

1 - Exif data in photos can be used to figure out the location the picture was taken. A lot of social media removes this data, but if you want to be careful, upload the photo to your PC, screenshot it, post it into paint, then save it elsewhere on your PC.

2 - External photos. I'm not a plant dude, so best I can tell is that those are sunflowers. Doesn't tell me much. It looks like the day's vaguely overcast as well, which if you go full turbo-creep, can help figure out medium-distance location.
But if you have a photo that includes a Red Cardinal, and we know you're West Coast, that cuts down the location a LOT.

3 - Internal locations
again, this is turbo-autist levels, but if you include anything that is vaguely localized in your photos, that can point out your location.
Let's say you have some locally-made jam on your table. The label says "Bill Smith's Hand-made Jam - Love in every bite".
Now people know (or can think) you live within shopping distance of that farmer's market.

4 - Being overly specific
"I can't believe it took four hours, but we made it to Disneyworld"

All of these can point out your location. Hell, I googled "Pizza" and you get a map within three miles of my house.

Given her stated age, and the fact she said she dropped out at a certain age, it would probably be possible to actually get VERY close to who she is IRL.

I never said "no interaction", I asked if you really thought 100% of a streamer's content was purely talking to or conversating with specific chatters and replying to their message specifically.

To be honest I couldn't really tell you why people (including myself) do it. I watch streamers with tens of thousands of viewers who MIGHT see one message for every few hundred that go by. I enjoy the streamer's content, I enjoy their community and making jokes with chat and typically I enjoy the streamed commentary since I enjoy their content. Breaking 2view (in terms of the literal 2 viewers) isn't hard. I get that it can be difficult to make friends, but you're telling me you can't just work up to will to at least TRY? It's not hard to make friends in the VTuber community, even the most schizoid antisocial motherfuckers out here have a couple of friends that frequent their stream.

If it's really as difficult as you say it is, then just join a bunch of servers, be it the ENVTuber server or little community ones for other streamers and drop your link whenever you go live.

Like what does this even mean? I've chatted in length and had small talk with plenty of chuubas at various levels of success and have had people do the same with me, why do you believe that all chuubas are some monolith of success-driven machines and and not just normal people? If they enjoy your company, they'll speak to you and if they don't they won't, it's pretty simple.

I listed a few reasons as to why I watch streamers that do that. Overall your goal is to entertain a live audience, most of which believe it or not will not be chatting to begin with. Even streamers with thousands of viewers only have a few hundred chatters, a lot of people there are just watching for the streamer's commentary and personality. You won't always have chat to interact with 100% of the time. I

I don't think chuuba names really need to be that complex or on the nose, most of the well known ones are just usernames or one word nickname sounding names. Once you start getting into shit like "Luxielliana Rosenbright" then it just seems excessive even if it fit's the "theme" of the character.

the ideal number is 2+friends. one for your personal community, one for collabs and then however many other servers you have for other chuubas whose community you are in. if you're not active in a community lurk if you care but you should not be spending so much time on discord.

those big hub servers like ENVtubers discord are worthless to be in because they're all filled with larpers and vtweeters. none of them actually stream but will gladly eat up 10 hours of your day talking about what they want to or their OC's lore. you don't want to make friends with them because they're going to drag you down.

i've been casually doing youtube and its really no noteworthy numbers, but recently i made content thats a bit more unique and have nicer thumbnails and commentary and they are actually getting way more views than my older shit videos, and hell even my older shit vids accumulated thousands of views despite being complete trash just because they are there and youtube decided to occasionally recommend them. think of your channel like its a stock investment, the more you put in, the more likely you will be rewarded later on

I used to follow this guy, he's the type to practice "Form over function". On the outside he's got awesome assets, seemed good at branding and graphic design, etc. Some people just aren't meant to be streamers. It's like all the other people out there who are able to create cool things artistically or technically and hope it'll equate to them being a good content creator when their energy would be better off spent supporting and working for chuubas behind the scenes and making money doing it.

yeah you guys were actually right it is that guy. maybe it's a good warning that i shouldn't complain too much on twitter, glad /asp/ exists i guess. he does come across as insufferable, but it's still surprising he can have big following and mint mogs him with 1k followers saying good morning at 5pm and schizo posts about nerd stuff. but then again i guess mint isn't mainly on twitter and is a lot more likeable to begin with. I'd much rather not complain though, as a chronic overthinker i just keep the failure I'm accumulating in my head at all times. every time twitch sends me the post stream mail the rest of my day is ruined. it's not like i don't know the result beforehand, but it's still painful. i have like 1 very small streamer friend, who says my streams are relaxing and he enjoys them, and that meant a lot to me, but even just 2view vs 10ccv makes such a huge difference in how enjoyable the stream is it's impossible to ignore. Turn off the fucking viewercount, watch your VODs to see what you like and don’t like, and start figuring out the type of content you really want to do. I was in a position where I thought I was going nowhere until I looked at the monthly chart and realized I was actually growing without realizing it. It’s a slow growth but it’s steady. Instead of complaining about NGMI, use your time to improve whatever skill you carry into your stream (yes commentary is also a skill that can be improved). If you do gaming commentary I recommend watching esports shoutcasters

I actually used to do shoutcasting for a small community in the past i enjoyed it a lot and i think generally im good at play-by-play although i play very low energy games mostly. id have kept shoutcasting but i never pulled the trigger to applying anywhere significant. i could do 99% voice coverage if i played apex legends or something like that, but those games are terrible to do for 2views. I stopped looking at viewers while I'm live and i think going forward ill just deactivate the mails too and just try to ignore it all. focus on doing the thing you enjoy i understand, thanks.

Shoutcasting can help where you least expect it. The streamers that I look up to are Pekora and Papi and they’re pretty loud and know how to make a boring game seem interesting. There are other ways to make low energy games fun but this is one path you can take to enhance the stream. Or just play games you like that aren’t boring and have people actually watching them lol
