Vtubing had massive unsustainable growth in the boom, attracting a lot of bandwagoning fags. Now the boom is over vtubing will contract as the bandwagoners gradually drift away. Eventually they will all have gone gone and then we will either see a slower but more sustainable growth, or stagnation.

>tl;dr No, but it'll shave off the hangers-on and "Non-Dedicated."

We've hit a saturation point, there are so many Indie VTubers, Corporate VTubers, VTuber Companies, VTuber Products, VTuber Side Industries, and so on that there will eventually be "the plateau."
Am I say Vtubing is going to die next week? No. The money will slow down and "the next thing" will eventually pop up and the people who hopped on the gravy train will hop to that one. The market will equalize itself and there will still be an industry, if smaller, at the end of it.

Same thing happened with the Minecraft Boom, the Streaming Booms, Youtube Family Channel stuff, etc etc. Vtubing is fairly unique as it exploded SO quickly and everyone hopped on it. Side industries popped up, those weird Vtuber companies popped up, and the clout chasers emerged.
Personally, I think there will be a time when "The Traditional" Gamer / Idol Vtuber won't be feasible anymore. At that point we'll see solo gimmicks (like we're seeing already in the Indie EN Sphere) like "Book Vtuber" or "Cooking Vtuber" or "Pure Skit VTuber." Those that can diversify will survive, those who cannot will drop off in time. At that point we'll probably see more "Crunchy-Hime" or whatever that Crunchyroll VTuber was, a lot of money, a lot of effort, and a structured marketing plan to back it up.

Your Oshi isn't going anywhere, unless they don't care or can't diversify themselves. Major Corps. aren't going anywhere unless someone makes a BIG OOPSIE or gets fingers cut off by the Yakuza. Indie market will continue, bar something else massive hits and everyone jumps on that.

>> No.20095848

>>20095214
>cooking vtuber
people bring this one up a lot, but i never understood why someone would ever become a vtuber whose main content is cooking. cooking would rely on handcams so much that you might as well toss out the whole vtuber thing, because cooking doesn't rely on the vtuber model at all. the person could stream their hands and reach a wider audience that way. if anything, the vtuber model would be the gimmick, not the cooking. same deal with gunpla and other stuff like it.

>> No.20095969

I think the fun is only just starting, because of how little the bandwagonners utilise the ability of the vtuber to interact with drawn assets and other vtubers. Right now its still mostly "Im a streamer, but I have a fancy avatar".
There is a lot of VRChat-like untapped potentilal yet.

The thing about these internet fads is they never really saturate because they're fueled by boomer ignorance about how technology works and a unhealthy dose of hopium. Look at all the good money that's been thrown after bad in esports. You can't really predict when it's going to saturate because every time you say that it turns out there's a 74-year-old investor who just heard about the Ironmouse subathon and wants in on this new thing the kids love. It doesn't follow normal market logic, sort of like how Tesla stock is worth more than the next several automakers combined despite producing <1% the number of cars they do. It seems like only a major recession is going to force a correction and honestly that might not even do it because it means more people stuck at home staring at anime girls.

>> No.20097210

>>20096066
That was the only idiotic part of the post, which otherwise makes sense.

I have hobbies that don’t involve weeb shit. I would not mind anime being made about them, same way people liked seeing an anime about cute girls working out at the gym.

But for vtubing? Being into the vtuber culture IS a hobby in itself. I enjoy collecting coins and baking, but I am more than fine with no weebishness touching those things.

If Im watching an anime avatar on screen, I’d better be feeling like a weeb. Games and idol references and shit? That adds to the weebness. Being basically just some normie who happens to have an avatar? Fuck that, if I want to watch a video about baking bread, I’ll just watch a real life guy.

> At that point we'll see solo gimmicks (like we're seeing already in the Indie EN Sphere)

So, ghettoization. Got it. I know you racist fucks are going to go wild over that word, but whatever.

I unironically refuse to watch anyone who doesn’t collaborate extensively with other vtubers. It’s actually a reason I don’t watch indies unless they’re big.

I don’t have an oshi. I just have girls I’m more focused on that week. I’m basically the weeb equivalent of a capeshit fag, cause I don’t give much of a shit about any one individual so much as the entire “universe” in which they exist and collaborate and interact.

I watch vtubers for the vibes, and a single avatar doing a solo channel is so fucking sad and pathetic to me that I wouldn’t be able to watch it even if I did like it

Absolutely agreed. I think a lot of us predicted the decline of the culture when holoEN was first announced, but then Myth was actually pretty pretty good in that respect. The true decline has been driven by the people that jumped onboard after seeing the success of Myth. The question now is, can vtubing survive without the culture? And if it does, will I even care at that point?

I don’t watch 2views, I don’t watch indie anime, when I decide if I want to get into a new show during a season, I figure out if it’s good by how much porn of it there is.

I’m trying to tell you all that I don’t care about substance if the packaging isn’t slick.
