i'm doing some truly stupid shit with my 2i2 to see if i can somehow rig it up to produce a consistent, but consistently bad signal from a condenser mic. i'm a little surprised by how weak the preamps are. i bought it only to use with line sources (and i rely on other mic preamps entirely) and i've never actually plugged a mic straight in until now.

mori's setup uses an internal battery and a 3.5mm stereo output. this is a completely different mode of operation from the dual XLR output that uses external phantom power. you do not use both at the same time. gura indicated she was using dual XLR cables to connect it (which is why she ordered them) and therefore is powering it from phantom power and not from the internal battery.

as much as i know people want to help by feeding her irrelevant information about mori's configuration, that information is not related to the configuration she described for this installation.

the only way to pick up a heartbeat (short of going into an anechoic chamber with specialized equipment) is by direct contact. i might be able to filter out the PC noise a bit but that rarely goes well.

it sounded like she rehearsed ahead of time, this is Gura we're talking about who can easily get distracted and go completely off the rails, so I'm impressed that she seemed to have a plan and stuck to it. as others said i think the right ear had some problems but it didn't ruin the experience at all. very well done and some of her lines were far more intimate than she would normally be comfortable saying which was a huge plus. just another stream proving why i love Gura.
