This is probably bait but I believe its that large to keep its size consistent to when /∞/ was still connected to the mainland. IDK because I'm not the one who made it so I can't say for sure, but its roughly the same size as it was when it was part of the continent, maybe a little smaller.
The technology is mostly for board culture reasons, and also to help with the disadvantages of being an island. The whole kroniissiah and adeptus mechanicus thing was big awhile back which influenced a lot of early lore for us. I'm not sure whether we agreed we had a large population or not, though I do know one anon proposed it and said we should have the a large pop like /ggg/ which I agree doesn't make a lot of sense, but I think the general consensus is that we don't have a large population. We don't have as many resources as a mainland country(being an island) and being isolationist means we can't trade for any resources we need besides 2 ports(with limited visitors) and have almost no diplomatic ties(maybe with /meat/ a little but its not been discussed whether we're fully isolationist) which means no allies. What we're left without technology is a lot of disadvantages which if left unbalanced basically makes us irrelevant and easy to conquer which I don't think any general would want for itself.
I think the main problem is multiple people having different ideas of what we should have/be and posting in the thread before its properly discussed. What do you think we should do to solve this problem?

I still like the idea that the head of state is the "grand priestess" who represents Kronii. The grand priestess is chosen from a pool of candidates sent in by the church and state. The candidates have to pass evaluations from both church and state to be chosen as the next Timekeeper. Because the church believes the Timekeeper is the incarnation of Kronii, compatibility with Kronii is important and that's the reason Timekeepers are usually women and both chirch and state send women usually as that's kind of tradition. Church and state might have friendly rivalry going on about which side gets chosen as Timekeeper but it's not to the detriment of a Timekeeper not getting chisen. The state has the council as its highest branch. The council is basically the executive branch and runs the country on a daily basis. The Timekeeper is technically higher than the council but her daily activity is communing with Kronii and doesn't usually make laws and such. I don't know what society/classes we will have so the council might be a group of nobles/officials or something.

IIRC rifled muskets have triple the range of regular muskets and have far better accuracy because the ball isn't rattling inside the barrel. I'm kind of confused. So ironclads were a nerf so that we can't sail into the ocean in those things. Clockwork was a nerf so we don't have steam engines to invent really advanced stuff. Now we're nerfing ourselves again to have dead scientists so we can't even build clockwork ironclads? Is there a reason we can't have straight up metal ships using clockwork cores? We won't need a physical reason to not leave the island. We'd be too paranoid of damaging our only ships. And clockwork is fragile anyways.

Sorry, I'm just worried about the thread getting mad at us for having OP stuff and I'm also worried about That Guy stuff happening as well. I thought we were using muskets because that's the most advanced firearm readily available to us without going out of the time period. I'm just not sure if /vtwbg/ will accept it and I don't want another ironclad situation to happen. I'm ok and even want with clockpunk in other areas like transportation or factory production. I just want to make use of it without making us too OP or technologically ahead, at least right now. I like your general idea, I just think its best we tread lightly to avoid drama.
