I never really got it either. No matter how delusional you are, if your oshi has over a million fans there's no way she cares about you personally. You would hope that she appreciates the support in a broad sense but that's just in the aggregate, she can't know about you individually. At the same time, no matter how much you idolize a streamer, they're still human and they'll want to have human relationships. Family, friendship, and even romantic love.

To me Marine is just entertainment. I'm both a genuine fan of Marine and a gachi. I'm trying to get into Holostars EN 99% because I think I would do a good job at it and it might increase my chances of moving to Japan someday, something I already wanted for myself, but also because there's like a 1% chance I would meet Marine, someone that I feel I have a decent amount in common with and someone I feel like I would probably hit it off with if she turned out to be someone that could get past the cultural differences between us.
