The diminishing returns thing is definitely a real thing, but the ultra high end offerings do have a significant difference. It's up to the person to see if those differences are worth it, and I'd say 99% of the time its not. For reference, what I use to listen for music and Fauna's ASMR is a IER-Z1R. This shit is amazing if you can get your hands on one, but its expensive as fuck. When I go out I use the original Galaxy Buds and those things are similar enough to my Z1R if I'm not really paying much attention to what I'm listening to. If you can ever find a store that lets you demo audio gear then do check it out and see if the difference in sound is worth it to buy up.

There is a to of shit to go into if you want a fully autistic answer, but /g/ can help.
I am distilling alot here but the key takeaway you need to understand specifically for ASMR is a balanced sound signature, so you can easily hear all of the slighter noises, and 'soundstage' so you have some noise seperation on high quality recordings. This enhances the '3d' audio aspect of asmr. This is much harder to achieve with earbuds versus headphones (with open back designes being superior)
As other anons have said,
E500's, sony MDR has been popular for decades for a reason (and they make replacement earpads when they start to flake, which they will - I recommend brainwavez)
For ASMR/home use I have a pair of sony MDR's, ATH-A500x (i think there is a new model), and Sennheiser HD6XX which are slightly cheaper made Senn HD600's but with the same audio drivers.
I mostly switch between the a500x's and HD6XX because of the spacial audio, if there is any background noise like my own fan I will use the a500x's as they are closed back and have better sound isolation.

tl;dr ask /g/'s HPG thread for your budget and that you want neutral sound with good soundstage.

It's unfortunate how these always make Kronii the top. Her design definitely leans in that direction, but anyone who has watched her for longer than debut knows she gets flustered easily. I'm reminded of the bomb game collab where Fauna had to comfort her and tell her that she did fine.

I think part of it is that people associate deeper, mature voices and refusal to show open emotions with top behavior. Fact of the matter is that a softer style of dominance often works just as well. Just think of how many grown men act tough, until their own mother scolds then, upon which they turn into little boys in an instant. That's more Fauna's style.

Just looking at their collabs, Kronii is always the one blushes at lewd jokes and tries to avoid direct confrontations. Fauna leans into them without going overboard.

Neither Mori nor Ina did one. Kiara, Ame, and Gura did one. Ame did one that's more along the lines of a regular voice pack with actual scenarios while Gura meme'd it the fuck up with "alarm noises" rather than any level of "roleplay." I don't know about Kiara's as I didn't buy hers. Ame didn't do one this year, either.

That said for someone who writes scenarios and makes videos out of them, I'd assume Fauna would definitely do it. At least I really hope she does.
