Let me tell you a little secret. I have a friend who suffers from social anxiety. He and I can speak over discord for many hours, talk about our favorite loli doujins and who is our favorite doujin artist, and similar topics. We trash talk each other playing games, saying things like "go kill yourself" or "you are trash retard". We typically talk in a group with 3 other friends. He can talk either one on one, or with all of our other friends in a Discord talk without issues. But the guy can't even go buy an energy drink on the little shop half a block away from where he lives without getting severe anxiety. He completely freezes and gets a panic attack just trying to interact with people in real life.

Akutan behavior is almost a carbon copy of what my friend goes through socially.

I am sorta the same so i can relate to aqua. I can do official business talks with strangers but i cannot make any friends at all or just completely freezes when trying to talk face to face with someone i know. I have plenty of net friends but zero outside friends.

Anyway to make a very brief summary: young, cute girl whose dream is to become an idol, she's extremely introvert, to the point of having social anxiety (though she greatly improved over the years), she's a perfectionist, yet insecure streamer.
She took on the gamer role in Hololive because she thought she had no remarkable trait and wanted to create a niche for herself; she puts a lot of time and effort in her gaming and is, generally speaking, the best gamer in Hololive, she excels in soulslike, FPS, and racing games, but she is good in pretty much everything she plays.
She's also very clumsy and whenever she isn't in her "gamer mode" she tends to be quite the airhead.
