What do you consider a lot of viewers for an indie? I know people say having over 20 viewers puts you in like the top 20% or something but that sounds kind of far-fetched.

Statistically it's true because of the sheer number of single-digit channels that exist on the platform, but realistically it's a bit different. 20 is ok, but you'd ideally want more than that. I got offered the R:SL sponsorship pretty much bang-on at 100 followers, as a 4-view.
No base pay, for $70 for every 5 players that completed the tutorial (this included myself, apparently). This has four tiers, and then a five tier, which is 10 people for $140 (I didn't get that far)
Once hitting the first five, I unlocked the "spend $49.99 in game, and we'll increase your payout by $100" reward.
Yeah, it felt like selling my soul, but I got $310 for a four hour stream. It paid for all my overlays, my png, my model, my transition stinger, my alerts, a skeb or two, and a pizza.
Streaming costs money. Much as I actually disliked the mechanics and predatory sponsorships, that $300 put me far ahead, because it meant I didn't need to use dayjob money.

I know I saw someone, I think it was Dai, post on twitter "Those of you who always say you'd love to sub but can't afford to... Put your minutes where your mouth is, and get my targets".
I make it a point to playthrough any chuuba's sponsorship, because I get them a minimum of $14 for less than half an hour of my time. That's about 6 months of subs, because twitch doesn't take a cut.

Besides art and schedules like you mentioned I feel like twitter is just an outlet for your jokes or banter that don't really fit anywhere else. Also good for important announcements.
What I like about twitter is that, for the most part, it only shows you what you want to see. I had to mute some people though because they were posting about depressing stuff daily like not having money or about feeling unwell.
