What is /asp/?

A thread for aspiring vtubers! Whether your goal is to make the journey as an independent streamer or to gain experience and build a portfolio for agency auditions. Let's help each other grow and make it. Indies are welcome to selfpost, but shill responsibly. Share your knowledge, insights, feedback, discuss what has worked and what hasn't worked for you. And always remember to do your research before posting personally identifying information. That includes both in this thread and in your audition applications to agencies.

FAQ:
>Do I need a fully rigged model to be a vtuber?
Nope! You can get started as a simple .png character!

>I want to learn how to rig Live2D models, where do I go?
Brian Tsui (of Iron Vertex), Kira Omori and the official Live2D YouTube channels have many tutorials available.

>Where can I find artists/riggers?
vtuber.gg, ArtStation, DeviantArt, Twitter, Reddit, Skeb.jp, etc.

>I just want to get started, can I buy pre-made models?
Yes! Live2D models can be purchased off nizima.com (Live2D's official marketplace) or booth.pm (general Japanese indie artist website). Be sure to check compatibility with your facial tracking software!

>Where can I learn how to digital market myself?
https://learndigital.withgoogle.com/digitalgarage

>Where can I find some good games to stream?
https://twitchtracker.com/games
https://sullygnome.com/

>Twitch or YouTube?
The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

I think I would be good at it and be able to entertain people with my personality and hobbies. I like retro games and divination, two things that seem to be decently popular with the vtuber audience. I have a clear baritone speaking voice and I'm not half bad at singing. If I can continue to toot my own horn, I'm consistently one of the funnier people in the room at social gatherings.
I said to myself nearly word for word years ago that I would stream "if it were suddenly socially acceptable to do so behind an avatar", and here we are.

Man, streaming dota is harsh.
I think the only guy that made it as a streamer without being high level or a well-known veteran of the game was Bradley Dragon but his is more of a comedy stream; I doubt he'd be half as successful if he wasn't as weird and gross-looking as he is, not something you'd want to replicate for yourself imo.

If you're taking LoL for reference, dota 2 is somehow way less toxic than LoL.
The only ones that are impossible to play with and want to micro-manage you from the picking screen are per*vians but nobody willingly plays with them.

Though this worked for Mason but he was a pro player before.

Guess despacito is the best song ever written too.
But seriously, people underestimate how much area legs take, they are roughly half of the body. When you do asymmetric stockings, that's a very sizeable portion of the design you're throwing off balance and thus asking for your attention due to how coloring and constrast works, it particularly affects designs that would benefit from top heavy features while letting the legs be an area where the eyes can rest. Instead you are splitting the points of focus and that obviously weakens designs. Also, proper ZR is just sexier, it's how it is.

i'm NOT saying that partner is some magical threshold that if you cross everything magically gets easier. it's just a good and objective indicator that you've got the basics down right enough to see growth and hold onto that growth.

they don't selfpost regularly. showing up once or twice to shitpost is different than posting links every time they go live then coming back to thank viewers.

look at selfposters like Sloth, Vel, Bodega, Callie and males like Elliott, PhantomMariachi, Egg and Nanase. all of them self post and all of them stagnate. worst of them like Odette stopped streaming entirely.

People enjoy Livestreamed content, evident by the thousands of successful streamers, but clipped content is just the only way to bring them to your stream because people are much more likely to click a 1 minute video than a 15 minute one (god forbid a 3 hour VOD) from a fresh content creator with no track record of creating good content.

For shark-style teeth though, I imagine people have difficulty keeping them aligned. Keeping them aligned just means you need to have them prepared to morph both of them as one texture while closed and turning the head, and that's something you can do with the glue tool and proper planning with the wireframe.
