For me it boosted my popularity a lot, I have grown more as a VTuber streamer in 4 months than I have in 4 years of streaming prior, simply because having an avatar means you have branding pretty much set in stone. It still is a fad for a lot of streamers 'n viewers alike but I want to believe that you can still make it work if your content is tailored for it

i love zatsudans that just talk about mundane shit, like, if there's a specific way they cook their eggs, or maybe an unconventional condiment that they put on their foods. especially when they get in an argument with chat about things (like putting mayonnaise on hotdogs) and it turns into a silly fight between my chuuba and the chat about it.

It's known that there are many popular streamers who play games and aren't any good at them. Then again, there are many popular "idol" streamers who can't even sing. I'd say it's less a matter of one being more important than the other, and more that a streamer should have at least one thing that they're really good at to make a good impression with, and then use their charming personality to retain the new viewers.

I think I mentioned the existence of vtubers to my folks in passing, but didn't go into any detail because I'm pretty sure they'd be confused and worried for me if they knew what they're really about. I only have one IRL friend and he's already into them.
