For example, there's no market share for digital prostitution but that reasoning for that should be obvious.

Things like personal discords and private circlejerks alienates new viewers, this isn't some amazing insight its been done in the past and its well known to be a thing. This is also the type thing you go to indies for, and most people dislike the indies that heavily do this as well.

Mio was still struggling until the moment she hit algorithm lightning with the September short. Although it's not as if it was pure chance.

The September short had a lot of things going for it, and all of them intentional:
- A relevant meme that has not worn out its welcome
- Reliable mass market seasonal interest because the september thing comes up every year at the same time, like the Mariah Carey song and Padoru
- Adds a twist instead of being a straight up cover. The "I don't remember" joke is a funny subversion of expectations
- Solid payoff. Even though she jebaits the song to make a joke, she still delivers the rest of the song in excellent quality so you still get the serotonin hit of triggering a pleasant memory
- Lots of movement in the video frame. This is my speculation, but I think the algorithm is probably going to promote videos with lots of onscreen movement over more static videos and her break into song fulfills that to spades

She does but you have to connect your YouTube to Discord. Some viewers opt out of it because they want to stay lurkers. She usually drops stuff early there to compensate the lack of YouTube activity in general.
