Their numbers can be explained by the long wait after previous gen. I'll tell more - Niji's Eden wave grew more, compared to Niji's last wave, than HoloX, compared to HoloJP5 both in views and superchats.
HoloX talents are pretty decent, but without any super-talented chuubas.
The only thing I can give to HoloX, is their dedication to stream very often, at least for now.

Edengumi from what I gather had an almost unprecedented dropoff compared to other chuubas that had similar large debuts.
If I had to put it into words I would say namely for Chloe and Laplus it's that they were practically type casted perfectly for their characters as the first reason. People went wild for Laplus because she was basically the perfect kusogaki that everyone wanted in JP for a while and Chloe plays the Ayame like cute role well but adds in Nene like behavior which amplifies the cuteness factor (however I'm personally more interested in the Chloe that's underneath the act because I can't help but feel she's much smarter and more competant then she lets on). The casting combined with very good singing capabilities is already good enough but what's probably the most impressive is yes the output of content they produce. HoloX as a whole went into full overdrive when it came to making content. When I say "they know exactly what their doing" it's referring to the type of content they've been putting out. Using Chloe as my primary example Chloe basically came out debut swinging with multiple karaokes in a single week along with zatsudans. Both those stream types are probably some of the most anticipated sort of content a Vtuber could have so Chloe practically started in the strongest way she could. Another example is doing supachat readings after every stream. Doing this allows Chloe to maintain paypigs while also serving as mini daily zatsus. Their powerhouses because they themselves as characters are probably the most in tune with their own designs, while having great enough talent that karaoke streams are always something to look forward to, and their work ethic is so ridiculous that content drought is never really a worry and people can practically get their daily fix.
